My Amazing WeChat is Connected to the Three Realms - Chapter 88
“What’s going on?” Peng Tao’s expression tightened immediately upon hearing the report.
“Starting from the day before yesterday, precinct stations have been receiving reports. Multiple young men and women have gone missing, some even abducted right off the street.”
“What?” Peng Tao was shocked. “Are there any leads?”
“None at all. The only certainty is that the missing individuals are all between 18 and 25 years old. Those who were abducted are all ordinary people with no history of conflicts or grudges.”
“Deploy police forces immediately. Investigate with full effort!”
“Yes, sir!” The officer saluted and left.
Peng Tao rubbed his temples, his face full of worry.
It really is a time of endless troubles.
“Mr. Lin, perhaps we should stop here for today. I’ll inform you if there are any developments in the case. Likewise, if you notice anything on your end, please notify us promptly.”
“Alright, I’ll take my leave then.”
After leaving, Lin Hai felt uneasy. He had a feeling that the case of the missing young men and women the officer mentioned wasn’t as simple as it seemed.
After a moment’s thought, he called Liu Xinyue, intending to advise her to go out less often lately and to be careful.
But after calling repeatedly, no one answered.
Lin Hai’s heart tightened nervously.
He then called Liu Xinqing.
“Hey, why are you calling me?” Liu Xinqing answered quickly; the background noise suggested she was in a noisy environment.
“Is your sister with you?”
“No, why? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Jiangnan City has been unsafe lately. Be careful and don’t go out unnecessarily.”
“Got it. I’m at a graduation dinner with my classmates. Gotta go.”
After hanging up, Lin Hai’s sense of unease grew stronger.
He hailed a taxi and headed straight to Liu Xinyue’s home.
“Xiao Hai, what brings you here? Come on in.” Zhao Fang hurriedly invited him inside.
“Auntie, where’s Xinyue?” Lin Hai asked urgently.
“Xinyue went out to buy groceries. Oh, she’s been out for a while now. She should’ve been back by now.”
Lin Hai’s heart sank sharply, and a bad feeling washed over him.
“Come in and sit first. I’ll call her. This child, what’s taking so long just to buy groceries…”
“Auntie, where did Xinyue go to buy groceries?” Lin Hai didn’t enter, asking anxiously.
“The Yingze Street Market. What’s wrong, Xiao Hai? You look pale.”
“It’s nothing, Auntie. I’ll go to the market to find Xinyue.” Without waiting for Zhao Fang to respond, Lin Hai ran off.
“Xiao Hai, come over for dinner tonight! Auntie will make something delicious for you.”
The Yingze Street Market was only about a ten-minute walk from Liu Xinyue’s home.
As soon as Lin Hai arrived, he saw a crowd gathered on the roadside, whispering and discussing something.
Seeing this, Lin Hai quickly walked over.
“Ah, such a nice girl, young and pretty, snatched right off the street by those bastards.”
“I hope the police solve the case quickly. Otherwise, such a beautiful girl falling into the hands of criminals…well, the consequences are unthinkable!”
“That girl was a college student. She always bought groceries from me and was very polite…”
Lin Hai’s mind went blank.
He rushed forward.
“Auntie, what did that girl look like? What was she wearing?”
“She was very pretty, like a TV star. She was wearing a dark green chiffon blouse…”
Lin Hai didn’t hear the rest.
Only one thought echoed in his mind: Xinyue is in trouble!
He clearly remembered that Liu Xinyue had been wearing a dark green chiffon blouse today.
Xinyue, Xinyue, where are you?
Lin Hai’s mind went completely blank.
Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and quickly took out his phone.
“Commissioner Peng, my girlfriend has been abducted. I want all the information on this case!”
There was a moment of silence on Peng Tao’s end.
“Mr. Lin, I understand how you feel. Please trust us…”
“Cut the crap! I want all the information on this case!!!” Lin Hai roared.
Peng Tao’s eyebrow twitched, and he forcefully suppressed his anger.
“Mr. Lin, this is against regulations. We have protocols…”
“Then you can wait for your father to be possessed by ghosts again!” Lin Hai had lost all rationality.
“You…” Peng Tao was furious.
Who in all of Jiangnan City would dare threaten him?
This Lin Hai was going too far.
But thinking of his father’s terrifying condition earlier and Lin Hai’s unbelievable methods, Peng Tao took a deep breath.
“Fine. Where are you? I’ll have someone bring it to you.”
“Yingze Street!” Lin Hai hung up.
Soon, a police car arrived. Seeing it, Lin Hai hurried over, opened the door, and got in.
“What did you say to our commissioner? He was so angry he started throwing things,” Xu Tian, sitting in the driver’s seat, asked curiously.
“Enough talk. Where are the documents?” Lin Hai couldn’t care less about whether Peng Tao was throwing things or not.
“Hmph, I came all this way to bring you the documents, and this is the attitude I get?” Xu Tian grumpily tossed a file bag to Lin Hai.
“Hurry up and look. I need to take it back after you’re done.”
Ignoring her, Lin Hai quickly opened the file.
Each case involved a masked man abducting victims using an unlicensed black Santana sedan.
Other than that, there were no other clues.
Furious, Lin Hai threw the file back to Xu Tian.
“Your police department’s efficiency is really low.”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean? I…” Xu Tian’s words suddenly cut off.
“Look over there!” Xu Tian pointed ahead and screamed.
Lin Hai looked up and saw an unlicensed black car suddenly stop. The door opened, and a masked man forcefully pulled a girl from the roadside into the car.
That girl was none other than Liu Xinqing!
“After them!” Lin Hai roared.
Even without his urging, Xu Tian had already started the car.
“Daring to snatch someone right under the police’s nose? How audacious! Hold on tight!” She stepped on the accelerator, and the car shot forward.
The black car ahead seemed to have noticed the police car chasing it and suddenly accelerated, speeding away.
“Trying to run? I’ll lend you wings, you fool!”
The police car accelerated again, weaving left and right through the crowd, creating one dangerous situation after another.
“Holy crap!” Lin Hai was thrown around in the car and hurriedly fastened his seatbelt.
He glanced at Xu Tian, her face fierce and determined.
You really can’t judge a book by its cover. This young woman, once in action, shed her previously sweet and adorable police image entirely, instantly transforming into a fierce force to be reckoned with!
After much effort, the car finally made it out of Yingze Street and onto the expressway.
“Just you wait! Let’s see you try to escape now!” Xu Tian accelerated again, closing the distance to the car ahead.
Just as they were about to catch up, an unexpected turn of events occurred.
The car ahead suddenly braked hard and came to an abrupt stop.
“Crap! We’re going to rear-end them!” Xu Tian exclaimed, even cursing in her shock.
She slammed on the brakes immediately!
But the distance between the cars was ultimately too close.
Bang! The two vehicles collided.
Fortunately, Xu Tian had braked in time, and neither she nor Lin Hai were injured.
They quickly jumped out of the car. Xu Tian shouted, “Police! Surrender now!”
The door of the car ahead suddenly opened, and a man wearing a large mask stepped out, a sinister glint in the corner of his eyes.
Without a word, the man lunged forward, reaching for Xu Tian’s neck.
Seeing this, Lin Hai’s pupils constricted sharply.
“It’s him!”
