My Amazing WeChat is Connected to the Three Realms - Chapter 28
Lin Hai picked up his phone and opened WeChat, searching for Sun Wukong’s contact.
Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, was the perfect candidate to learn martial arts from. If he could learn a few moves from him, dealing with that scar-faced guy would be as easy as blowing a piece of paper away.
Little Confused Immortal: Great Sage, are you there?
Lin Hai sent the message, his heart pounding with excitement.
Sun Wukong: What do you need, kid?
The monkey replied instantly, probably glued to his phone like everyone else.
Little Confused Immortal: Great Sage, I was wondering if you could teach me some martial arts techniques? (Followed by three drooling emojis.)
Sun Wukong: Martial arts? That’s child’s play! I only deal with celestial magic. What do you need martial arts for?
Lin Hai broke out in a cold sweat. Uh… okay.
Little Confused Immortal: Well, do you have any celestial magic that someone at the early Innate Realm can learn?
Sun Wukong: Early Innate Realm? Isn’t that just a mortal? I don’t have anything for that level. I’ve got plenty of techniques for Golden Immortals and above, though. Want to learn those?
Lin Hai felt a wave of frustration. Of course, I’d love to learn, but I’m just a mortal!
It seemed like learning from Sun Wukong was a dead end.
Ding!
Huh? A message from Golden Flower Boy!
Lin Hai jolted upright in bed and opened the message.
Golden Flower Boy: Immortal, the Soul-Returning Pill has been successfully analyzed. I just need to adjust the potency a bit, and if all goes well, I’ll have it ready for you tomorrow.
“Yes!” Lin Hai pumped his fist in excitement. Finally, he could save Xin Yue’s father.
He decided not to tell Xin Yue just yet. He’d surprise her tomorrow.
“Damn it, missed another one!” Liu Xin, who slept on the bunk below, tossed his phone aside in frustration.
“What are you trying to get?” Wang Peng asked, not looking up from his game.
“Red packets. I joined a relay red packet group, but out of ten, I miss nine.”
“Dude, you’re such a noob. Just download a cheat app.”
“There’s a cheat app for red packets?” Liu Xin looked shocked.
“Holy crap, why didn’t I think of that?” Lin Hai slapped his forehead, suddenly inspired.
He quickly opened Baidu and searched for a red packet cheat app. After downloading and installing it, he called down to Liu Xin.
“Liu Xin, send me a red packet.”
“Send you a red packet? You’re driving a Land Rover, and you’re still mooching off us peasants?”
“Stop whining and just send it. It’s urgent!”
“Fine.”
Ding!
A red packet notification popped up.
Before Lin Hai could even tap the screen, he heard the sound of coins clinking.
You’ve received Liu Xin’s red packet.
“Haha, perfect!” Lin Hai was so excited he almost jumped down to kiss Wang Peng’s chubby face.
Now, whenever someone sent a red packet, the cheat app would automatically grab it for him.
Damn it, I don’t believe those immortals can outpace a cheat app.
“Wait a second…” Lin Hai checked the amount Liu Xin had sent.
0.01 yuan.
“Are you kidding me? Could you be any stingier? One cent?!”
“Hey, one cent is still love,” Liu Xin muttered under his breath.
Despite the soul-nourishing effects from the previous day, Lin Hai’s head still ached slightly. By 10 p.m., he felt exhausted and fell asleep.
The next morning, Lin Hai woke up and immediately opened WeChat, staring intently at the Heavenly Court Trading Group.
He was still a bit unsure and wanted to test whether his cheat app could outpace the immortals’ lightning-fast fingers.
Ding!
A large red packet appeared on the screen.
“Here we go!” Lin Hai tensed up. This was the moment of truth.
Clink!
You’ve received Taishang Laojun’s red packet!
“Yes!”
Lin Hai danced around in excitement. Take that, immortals! Your lightning-fast fingers are no match for my cheat app!
Ignoring the immortals’ chatter in the group, Lin Hai opened his Qiankun Bag.
Yang Yuan Pill: Adds ten years to your lifespan.
“Holy crap, this is amazing!” Lin Hai was thrilled. This pill could literally add ten years to someone’s life.
“Let’s see what level you need to be to use it.” Lin Hai instinctively looked for the fine print, but after searching for a while, he found nothing except the brief description.
“What’s going on?” Lin Hai was confused for a moment, then it hit him.
“Haha, there’s no level restriction! That means even mortals can use it!”
Damn, Taishang Laojun finally did something useful!
To confirm his guess, Lin Hai tagged Taishang Laojun in the group.
Little Confused Immortal: @Taishang Laojun, can mortals use this Yang Yuan Pill?
Taishang Laojun: Obviously!
Lin Hai facepalmed. What does “obviously” even mean? Yes or no?
Chang’e: @Little Confused Immortal, the Yang Yuan Pill is pretty useless for us immortals. Our lifespans are measured in millennia, so ten years more or less doesn’t make a difference. But for mortals, it’s great. Too bad they can’t get their hands on it.
Haha, Chang’e is so much nicer than that grumpy Taishang Laojun.
Little Confused Immortal: @Chang’e, thanks, sis. I’ll treat you to a meal next time.
Lin Hai exited WeChat and thought for a moment. The Yang Yuan Pill was too precious to extract now. He’d keep it in his Qiankun Bag for safekeeping and save it for his parents.
Since he had no classes in the morning, Lin Hai decided to text Liu Xin Yue.
“How’s the vocal practice going?”
Liu Xin Yue replied almost immediately.
“I’ve pretty much mastered the vocal techniques you taught me, but for some reason, I can’t quite achieve the same effect as you. Could you take a look and see if I’m doing something wrong?”
“Sure, I’ll be there soon.”
At the music department’s practice room, students were warming up their voices with various vocal exercises.
As soon as Lin Hai walked in, all eyes turned to him.
“Wow, it’s the Singing King!”
“Singing King, we love you!”
“Singing King, could you give me a private lesson? I’ll do anything!”
The girls squealed like fangirls, their eyes sparkling.
Lin Hai rubbed his nose, feeling a bit overwhelmed. Damn, this is a bit much.
“Look at our Singing King, so popular with the ladies. Last time you were here, you walked away with both fame and fortune,” Liu Xin Yue teased with a smile.
“That’s all superficial. I’m a man of depth,” Lin Hai said with a smug wave.
Liu Xin Yue burst out laughing. “Depth? You and that word have nothing in common.”
After some light banter, Lin Hai got serious. “Sing a song for me. Let me hear it.”
“Okay.” Liu Xin Yue nodded and began singing a melancholic love song.
Lin Hai listened carefully. Her technique was flawless, and her voice was beautiful, but something was missing. It lacked a certain emotional depth, as if the soul of the song wasn’t fully realized.
When she finished, Liu Xin Yue looked at Lin Hai expectantly, waiting for his feedback.
Lin Hai frowned in thought.
“Your singing is technically perfect, but it doesn’t quite move the heart. I think it’s missing a genuine emotional connection.”
“Is that so?” Liu Xin Yue furrowed her brows, feeling like she had poured her heart into the song.
“Probably. My suggestion is—”
“Well, well, if it isn’t the Singing King, who’s been making waves lately. What, have you and our pure campus belle Liu Xin Yue gotten cozy?” A sharp, mocking voice interrupted.
Lin Hai turned to see a provocatively dressed woman sauntering over.
“Zheng Shuang, watch your mouth,” Liu Xin Yue said with clear disdain.
Ignoring Liu Xin Yue, Zheng Shuang batted her eyelashes at Lin Hai. “Hey, handsome. I’m Zheng Shuang. Heard of me?”
“Zheng Shuang? Of course, I’ve heard of you,” Lin Hai replied. Everyone knew Zheng Shuang.
She was one of the four campus belles of Jiangnan University, known as the “Seductive Belle.” She was also a frequent topic in the boys’ dormitory late-night chats, thanks to her reputation for being both stunningly beautiful and notoriously promiscuous. Wang Peng, that fat pervert, had probably fantasized about her more times than he’d admit.
Liu Xin Yue felt a pang of irritation as Zheng Shuang flirted with Lin Hai.
“Zheng Shuang, we’re practicing. Please don’t disturb us.”
“Practicing? Oh, please, Xin Yue. The city’s youth singing competition is in two weeks, and I’m competing too. Do you really think you stand a chance against me?”
“Against you?” Liu Xin Yue sneered. “Everyone in the department knows your level. Don’t flatter yourself.”
“We’ll see about that,” Zheng Shuang said with a sly smile before turning to leave, her hips swaying seductively as the boys’ eyes followed her.
Just as she reached the door, she turned back and winked at Lin Hai.
“Oh, Singing King, if you have time, maybe you could give me a private lesson too? A very deep one.”
Lin Hai smirked. “How deep are we talking?”
