I Swapped Bodies With a Female Celebrity - Chapter 23
“Attention all visitors, attention all visitors!”
Just as everyone was thoroughly enjoying the exhibition, the pleasant voice of the announcer echoed through the loudspeakers.
“Due to an unexpected equipment malfunction, the venue requires emergency maintenance. Please gather your belongings and exit through the designated exits immediately!”
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The venue will close in half an hour. Reopening times will be announced on our official website. Thank you for your understanding!”
The announcement was repeated three times, much to the frustration of the attendees.
Everyone had been in high spirits, only to be met with this disruption! Many had taken time off work to bring their children here, and now, after just a few minutes, they were being forced to leave.
“What’s going on? On the very first day, something like this happens?”
“Are the organizers out of their minds?”
“What terrible luck!”
…
Despite their complaints, with only half an hour until closure, there was nothing they could do but head for the exits.
However, something soon caught people’s attention.
Security personnel were stationed at every exit—what was going on?
“This doesn’t feel right…”
Many sensed something unusual. If it were just an equipment malfunction, why were there so many guards at the exits? And judging by their demeanor… it seemed like they were searching for someone.
Could there be a criminal hiding among the crowd?
Unease began to spread.
“Did you hear? There’s been a serial killer active in Jiuyang City recently!”
“I have inside info—they say a bank robber snuck into the venue!”
“No way, I heard it’s about a smuggling deal happening here…”
Rumors swirled in no time.
Qin Lang couldn’t help but wonder—had something serious really happened?
Just his luck.
This year must be cursed. Next time, he’d check the almanac before stepping out.
But no one noticed the nervous-looking man in the crowd, eyeing the security personnel with suspicion and fear.
“Have I been discovered? Impossible—I’ve been careful to cover my tracks!”
The man was a notorious thief who had recently fled to Jiuyang City.
He had once looted the private collection of a wealthy magnate, earning him a top spot on the most-wanted list. However, thanks to his exceptional disguise skills, he had repeatedly evaded capture.
His visit to the tech exhibition today was purely out of boredom—it had been days since his last heist, and his fingers were itching for action.
After all, three days without practice makes a thief rusty!
As a master thief, maintaining peak performance required constant challenges in different environments.
But he never expected that a casual visit would lead to this!
And now, he couldn’t help but wonder—were they here for him?
If not for him, who else would warrant such a heavy response?
Inside the Surveillance Room
Director Chen and Mu Zhiyan had hoped to locate Qin Lang through the surveillance system, but their efforts proved futile.
Despite the facial recognition software, Qin Lang was wearing a mask and sunglasses—effectively rendering the system useless.
Mu Zhiyan had no way of finding him.
“As long as Yunxuan is still inside the venue, we will find her!” Director Chen said firmly.
“Order security to double-check every attendee’s ticket and ID before letting them leave!”
“Understood, Director!” The manager hurried off to relay the instructions.
But in his heart, he was burning with curiosity—who on earth could warrant Director Chen’s personal involvement?
“Could there be a foreign spy here? Someone trying to steal our latest technological secrets? That must be it—why else would the director come himself?”
His expression turned grave.
There was no way he’d let a foreign spy slip through!
Outside, security checks grew even stricter.
Seeing this, the thief grew increasingly panicked.
Something was very wrong.
He quickly slipped into a restroom.
Moments later, a woman with wavy hair, a long dress, and high heels emerged from the men’s restroom.
Before entering, the thief had already prepared his escape plan—a true professional always had a backup.
But the moment he stepped out, he literally ran into Qin Lang.
Both froze in shock.
“Did I enter the wrong restroom again?” Qin Lang wondered, alarmed.
He glanced up—no, he was definitely at the women’s restroom. The other one was the men’s.
So why had this “woman” just walked out of the men’s room?
Qin Lang’s expression turned complicated.
“Bro… did you also transmigrate?” he asked sympathetically.
The thief frowned. Was this woman insane? Spouting nonsense he couldn’t understand.
Ignoring Qin Lang, he hurried toward the exit.
“Hey—why the rush? Let’s exchange notes!” Qin Lang called after him, clicking his tongue.
“You’re not a suspect, are you? Running like that—so suspicious!”
Then, Qin Lang’s eyes narrowed.
“Wait… even though he’s dressed as a woman, he has an Adam’s apple.”
Though subtle, it didn’t escape Qin Lang’s sharp observation.
Meaning—this was a man in disguise. A crossdresser?
Considering the heavy security outside…
Qin Lang’s expression darkened. He was starting to piece things together.
“This guy’s definitely trouble. He might be the one security’s looking for!”
Taking a deep breath, Qin Lang turned and walked the other way.
“Better stay out of this. None of my business anyway.”
When roaming the world, safety came first!
“Mind your own business, live a long life.”
That was a principle Qin Lang lived by.
Meanwhile, the thief ahead suddenly stopped.
“What did that woman mean earlier? Did she recognize me?”
The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he became.
He hadn’t expected to run into someone right after leaving the men’s room.
“Maybe I should try a different exit.”
After a moment’s hesitation, he turned and headed in the opposite direction.
When roaming the world, caution comes first!
That was his golden rule as a lone master thief.
