I Swapped Bodies With a Female Celebrity - Chapter 22
Facing Liu Qingcheng’s interrogation, Qin Lang also felt a headache coming on.
How was he supposed to know what achievements Qin Yunxuan had? If she were truly accomplished, she wouldn’t be getting so much hate online.
“I… I won Best New Artist?” Qin Lang ventured cautiously.
Liu Qingcheng felt as if a sledgehammer had struck her chest—the pain was suffocating.
Best New Artist?
Those four words had become her personal curse.
“I’m a third-tier celebrity now, but you’re still stuck in the fourth tier!”
“I won Best New Artist!”
“My new song has climbed to number two on the charts! My debut album is already in production!”
“I won Best New Artist!” Qin Lang’s tone grew even sharper.
He had found Liu Qingcheng’s weak spot.
“I—”
“I won Best New Artist!”
Liu Qingcheng was on the verge of losing it. Was this Qin Yunxuan doing this on purpose?
“Fine! Since you’re so proud of being Best New Artist, let’s settle this with results! You released a new song too, didn’t you? I’d love to see how it performs!”
Liu Qingcheng’s song had been crafted by a top-tier composer at great expense—tailor-made for her.
She had heard Qin Yunxuan’s “Blue Lotus”, but she was convinced her own song was superior.
Right in front of Qin Lang, she pulled up Feiyun Music—the largest and most reputable music platform in the industry, where even A-list artists debuted their work.
But when Liu Qingcheng opened the rankings, her entire body stiffened.
She rubbed her eyes, wondering if she was hallucinating.
When she confirmed the numbers, she fell into stunned silence.
Qin Lang grew curious.
“What’s going on? She was so arrogant a second ago—why the sudden silence?”
Leaning in, he saw that his new song, “Blue Lotus”, had made it onto the New Releases chart.
“Only tenth place?”
Qin Lang’s heart sank.
Liu Qingcheng’s song was ranked second, while his was barely scraping the top ten. The gap was humiliating.
She was probably preparing a scathing remark to throw at him.
This was going to hurt.
“So disappointing!” he thought.
But when Liu Qingcheng heard his words, her face flushed red. She glared at him furiously.
Qin Lang was baffled. What did I say now?
Seeing his confusion only made Liu Qingcheng angrier.
A song breaking into the New Releases chart within half a day? That kind of momentum was reserved for A-list stars!
How could Qin Yunxuan pull this off?
“Qin Yunxuan, you win this time,” Liu Qingcheng spat through gritted teeth. “But tomorrow’s recording will show you who the real queen of the stage is!”
With that, she turned to leave—there was no way she could stay without losing face completely.
Her song had taken three days to climb the charts.
Qin Yunxuan’s “Blue Lotus” had done it in half a day.
At this rate, it might even break into the top five—maybe even the top three—by the end of the day.
But Qin Lang just stood there, clueless.
He had no idea how the rankings worked.
To Liu Qingcheng, his blank expression was pure mockery.
That was the final straw.
But as she turned to leave, her foot slipped on the water Qin Lang had spilled earlier—
THUD.
She landed hard on her backside.
Qin Lang winced at the sound. That had to hurt.
“Y-you—!” Liu Qingcheng’s eyes brimmed with tears as she slapped away his outstretched hand.
Struggling to her feet, she limped away without another word.
“That’s the kind of woman who’ll bear strong sons,” Qin Lang mused, watching her go.
Meanwhile, Mu Zhiyan was repeatedly dialing Qin Lang’s number—but all she got was a busy signal.
“Xiao Mu, have you reached Yunxuan yet?” Director Chen asked urgently.
Mu Zhiyan bit her lip. “Director, I want to reach her, but her phone won’t connect!”
“What could’ve happened?”
“Maybe her battery died? Or… her phone got stolen?”
Director Chen shook his head. “Possible. But what if… she’s been kidnapped?”
Mu Zhiyan’s blood ran cold.
Despite his age, Director Chen had a wild imagination.
But now that he mentioned it, doubt crept into Mu Zhiyan’s mind.
Was Yunxuan really kidnapped?
There was no way Qin Yunxuan would block her number.
If the call wasn’t going through, either her phone was stolen… or she was in danger.
Mu Zhiyan’s anxiety grew.
Then Director Chen added gravely, “I heard the police in Jiuyang just arrested a serial killer. They’re still hunting for his accomplices…”
“A girl as beautiful as Yunxuan would be an easy target for criminals…”
Mu Zhiyan shuddered.
She had brought Qin Yunxuan here. If anything happened to her, how could she ever face Lin Jie, Qin Yunxuan’s father, or her late mother?
“Director Chen, we have to find her! If something’s happened to Yunxuan, I—I won’t live with myself. I’ll die with her!”
Tears welled in her eyes.
Director Chen’s lips twitched. He had meant to scare her a little, but her reaction was extreme.
Had they actually encountered danger before?
His expression turned serious.
“Contact the expo organizers immediately. Lock down all exits!”
“Deploy every security guard. Sweep the entire venue and check every attendee on their way out!”
“Also, pull up the surveillance footage. If we spot Yunxuan, track her movements at once!”
And so, under Director Chen and Mu Zhiyan’s command, a massive search operation for Qin Yunxuan began.
