Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 87
The bedroom was enveloped in shades of pink—warm, romantic, and beyond any other words Elysia could use to describe it.
Elysia sat on the edge of the bed and patted the empty space beside her, signaling for Enoxia to join her. Enoxia never refused her warmth, so she sat down immediately, feeling as though she might melt into the sea of pink around her.
“First, you became good friends with Griseo, and now you’ve found a way into Vill-V’s heart. I haven’t seen her this happy in so long. You deserve praise, you know?”
Enoxia didn’t respond. Instead, she wrapped her arms around Elysia and nestled deeper into her embrace.
“Oh? So proactive today—is this your way of surprising me? Well, I certainly don’t mind~”
Elysia smiled, gently stroking Enoxia’s hair. She could tell something was different about her today.
“Is something troubling you? If you’re willing to share, I’ll listen to anything, no matter what it is~”
Enoxia decided to be direct.
“Bella, Sirin, Eden, Sakura, Aponia, Mobius, Cecilia… You love everyone. And that includes me.”
“‘Includes’? How could you say that? A lovely and capable girl like you has always been important to me~”
Enoxia gave a faint, bitter smile.
“But the number of ‘important’ people in your heart is a little overwhelming. What if you had to compare me to them?”
She continued, “I know that even someone who loves everyone can’t possibly love them all equally. That’s just human nature. No matter how great a person is, there will always be those they’re closer to and those they’re not as close with. Right?”
Elysia fell silent for a moment before nodding slightly.
“So… your worry is about Sirin and Bella? You wish someone would place you above others?”
The tension in Enoxia’s brow eased slightly.
“That’s right. But don’t worry—I came to you because I know you wouldn’t get angry at me for feeling this way. Not only would you not be upset, but you’d even find a way to comfort me.”
“After all, if every wish could be granted, there’d be no losers in this world. Just getting your comfort is enough for me.”
Instead of responding directly, Elysia changed the subject.
“Could you tell me more about your battle with the other Herrscher of Corruption?”
“About Rin and the Divine Key—I’ve already…” Enoxia began, but Elysia gently cut her off, her expression softening further.
“I know. Because of you, Rin’s story was able to continue. But when you told me about it, you only spoke of Rin and the Divine Key. What about you, the protagonist? This journey to the Far East happened because of you.”
Enoxia paused, then retold the entire story from her own perspective. Elysia listened quietly until the very end.
“See? Doesn’t it feel different when you tell it from your own point of view? You sound so much more impressive now~”
Elysia’s smile deepened. “As for your birth… it really is mysterious and complicated. When we first met, you said you’d dreamed of me—from your perspective, that wasn’t entirely wrong. Who knew I’d appear in someone else’s dreams? A maiden’s heart truly is a wondrous thing~”
Enoxia noticed something beyond surprise in Elysia’s eyes—something like… relief?
“Do you remember when you took on this form in front of Rin? To gain her trust faster, you told her she could think of you as my sister, right?”
Enoxia nodded, unsure why Elysia seemed so excited.
Elysia closed her eyes briefly, her lips curling into a tender, heartfelt smile.
“Then… what if I wanted you to be my little sister? Would you accept?”
Enoxia’s eyes widened. She had to make sure she hadn’t misheard.
“Why…?”
“No need to rush~ Let me ask you this: Why are Sakura and Rin sisters?”
“Because… they share the same parents. They’re bound by blood.”
Elysia nodded slightly, which only confused Enoxia further.
“From 50,000 years ago until now, only the two of us were born as both Herrschers and humans. No wonder I felt such a strong pull toward you from the very beginning. I’ve always wondered why.”
“But… the reason I became human in the first place is because of—”
Elysia raised a hand, stopping her.
“Beyond that, our ‘True Selves’ both originate from another soul.”
“Don’t worry—I’ve known exactly who I am since 50,000 years ago. But it’s also true that everything inside me comes from another Elysia.”
She giggled. “Ah, it feels like it’s been so long since I’ve had such a serious conversation. Maybe we should lighten the mood? After all, the main reason is actually very simple.”
“Back when I first saw Rin in Fire Moth, I kept thinking… ‘What if I had a little sister like Sakura does?’ And after Rin came to the Elysian Realm, seeing how much Sakura changed made that longing return.”
When Enoxia had first returned to the Realm and explained Rin’s origins, Elysia had sensed something—when Enoxia suggested that Rin think of her as Elysia’s sister, there had been an unusual excitement in her heart. And beneath that excitement lay an endless regret.
“Come now, you’re just as beautiful, kind, and strong as I am. You’ve always had the right to be my sister, so don’t be so insecure~ Now, tell me your answer. If you lie, I’ll be heartbroken, you know?”
Enoxia didn’t speak. Instead, she buried herself deeper into Elysia’s embrace, tears streaming down her face. She realized this might be the first time she had ever cried since her birth.
“Mmm, I knew it. In this, we’re drawn to each other~”
Were Sirin, Bella, Cecilia, Alexandra, and Ivan her family? Of course. They all acknowledged that.
Sirin and Cecilia shared a mother-daughter bond, while Ivan and Alexandra had their own familial ties. And the connection between Sirin and Bella was even deeper than blood. Yet, in the end, Enoxia was still the “indispensable, but not the most important” outsider.
For Enoxia, born from loneliness, the desire to form deeper bonds had always been there.
She just never expected it to happen so soon.
After a long silence, Enoxia lifted her head.
“Then… from now on, if I have other worries, can I be a little more unreasonable with you? Can I cling to you longer than the others?”
Elysia rested Enoxia’s head on her lap. “Of course~ What are little sisters for, if not to be spoiled? Even if you’re a little more demanding than others, I won’t mind. Now, now—no more crying. Tears don’t suit that pretty face of yours~”
Enoxia sniffled, locking eyes with Elysia before nestling against her like a spoiled child.
“If you got me a gift… I’d be really happy.”
Elysia’s lips curled into a playful smile. “Oh? It’ll be absolutely romantic and grand—but you’re not allowed to peek with your Herrscher powers, okay?”
Enoxia nodded, then finally relaxed completely. Lulled by Elysia’s warmth, she drifted into sleep.
