Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 45
After the Second Honkai War, Enoxia found herself contemplating the practicalities of daily life—shelter, food, and finances. That was when Benjamin Frankensteinn, a reclusive billionaire, caught her attention.
Unlike other ambitious tycoons, Benjamin had chosen to retire after amassing his fortune, living quietly and avoiding the political and social elite.
Enoxia didn’t care how he’d made his money. What mattered was that, like most self-made magnates, his early wealth had been built on unethical foundations—though he’d since laundered his reputation clean. Not that Enoxia cared about justice. But knowing this made it easier to justify what she was about to do.
On paper, Benjamin and his family were devout Catholics. Whether their faith was genuine didn’t matter—after all, for people like them, “God” was often just another business partner.
What did matter was that, with minimal effort, Enoxia had rewritten the beliefs of his entire inner circle. Now, with these obedient tools at her disposal, securing a comfortable life became trivial.
September 2000 – A Private Island in the Pacific
A lavish three-story villa stood completed, its backyard opening to a pristine private beach. Beneath it lay a massive digital simulation space—nowhere near the scale of World Serpent’s Elysian Realm, but in this era, only the three major organizations could have built something like it.
This was their new home.
All four of them.
Enoxia, Sirin, Bella… and Ivan.
Officially, Ivan was labeled a natural Stigma-bearer—a rare but not unheard-of phenomenon among Valkyries. But after extensive research and testing, Enoxia realized Sirin had stumbled upon something far more extraordinary in Siberia.
Ivan wasn’t just a Stigma-bearer.
Like Seele Vollerei, she was a Stigma Awakener.
With the right guidance, Enoxia was certain she would become a formidable force.
September 16, 2000 – The Digital Space
Enoxia stepped into the simulation, her nerves taut.
Could she really bring Cecilia back?
Honestly, she wasn’t sure.
If even the Abyss Flower (Black Abyss White Flower) couldn’t heal Cecilia, only one method remained:
- Preserve her memories.
- Reconstruct a “memory entity.”
- Fabricate a Soulium-grade body.
- Transfer the data into the new vessel.
In theory, it would work—just like Otto’s resurrection methods.
But the hardest question wasn’t the how.
It was the what if.
What if the reconstructed Cecilia wasn’t really her?
Having someone’s memories didn’t make you them. The Herrscher of Sentience was proof enough—despite possessing Fu Hua’s memories, body, and identity, she was rejected by everyone, ultimately storming off in fury.
Steeling herself, Enoxia began.
For the Herrscher of Erosion, constructing a memory entity was effortless. A snap of her fingers—
And in the corner of the digital space, a figure materialized like a 3D print.
[Cecilia?], clad in Valkyrie combat gear, blinked in confusion.
“Where… am I?”
“Relax,” Enoxia said. “I just need to ask you a few questions. There are no right answers—just speak your mind.”
She took a deep breath.
“What would you do… if you saw Sirin again?”
“Keep my promise,” the replica answered without hesitation. “Become her family.”
A perfect match to the real Cecilia’s response. But Enoxia wasn’t satisfied.
“What if Sirin, manipulated by some force, swore to eradicate humanity—and had already caused millions of deaths? What then?”
“I would stop her,” [Cecilia?] replied firmly. “Protecting humanity is my duty as a Valkyrie.”
“And if, after defeating her, Otto launched a Honkai fission missile at your location—killing you both—what would you feel in those final moments?”
A pause. Then:
“I would ensure she didn’t die alone. That she felt warmth, even at the end.”
“Even after she tried to destroy humanity?”
“That was the past her. In death, she’s just a girl who needs comfort.”
“Even if your kindness is just self-delusion?”
“Maybe. But if we stop offering help, more will suffer. If I can’t even reach out to Sirin, how can I claim to protect humanity?”
“Then… do you hate Otto?”
“No. If fighting Honkai is war, I’m the soldier—he’s the general. Generals can’t win every battle without losses. If my death brings victory, I accept it.”
Enoxia nearly scoffed.
(Too bad Otto never saw Valkyries as human. His sacrifices were never for victory—just his own schemes. The Overseer never wanted to defeat Honkai.)
“One last question. If someday…”
[Cecilia?] listened silently.
Minutes later, Enoxia exited the simulation—only to find Sirin pacing frantically. The moment their eyes met, Sirin sprinted over.
“Well?!”
“It’s done,” Enoxia said, stepping aside. “She’s all yours.”
Sirin practically teleported into the digital space.
Then—
Warm arms wrapped around her.
A gentle hand cradled the back of her head, soothing wounds that had festered for years.
Enoxia hadn’t lied.
Cecilia was back.
“Sirin… I’m sorry. If not for Miss Enoxia, I would’ve broken my promise. And yet, in the end, it was you who gave me a home…”
“Mom!”
The word shattered Cecilia’s composure. Tears spilled freely as she pulled Sirin tighter.
“Mm.”
Under her touch, a tormented soul finally found the solace it had craved for so long.
