Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 2
“Next up is my appearance—a giant red eyeball floating in midair. If I don’t get captured for experiments, I’d be damn lucky.”
With a thought, Wang Luowei’s body dissolved into a swirling black mist before reforming. In moments, a young girl stood in his place—long blue hair, fiery orange-red pupils, and a black-and-purple tracksuit adorned with various accessories. Hanging from her left chest was a crimson eye-shaped pendant, symbolizing her true identity.
“Huh? I was just trying to see if I could take human form… Why did I automatically turn into Erosion Elysia?” Wang Luowei glanced downward and confirmed that, physiologically speaking, she was now undeniably female.
Though seeing her in the Elysian Realm would’ve been enough to stop someone’s heart, there was no denying that this form—borrowed from Elysia’s appearance—was undeniably beautiful from a feminine perspective.
As for gender? The Herrscher of Corruption had none to begin with. It could become male, female, a Walmart shopping bag, or even an attack helicopter if it wanted. The ability to customize one’s gender was, frankly, way ahead of its time.
“Since I’m in Erosion Elysia’s form now, I’m a girl.” Having read countless gender-bender transmigration novels, Wang Luowei felt zero attachment to her lost “equipment.” According to Honkai Impact 3rd’s lore, becoming female might even boost her Honkai adaptability. And hey, this way, I can get closer to other girls, right?
“Hehehe…” A dumb grin spread across her face as drool trickled down her chin.
After snapping out of her delusions, Wang Luowei realized something odd.
In the original story, the Herrscher of Corruption in the Current Era had latched onto Raiden Mei before being dragged into the Elysian Realm. Meanwhile, the Previous Era’s version—the one in Sakura Village who kept crying “Big sis, you’re back!”—only emerged after Sakura’s death. Yet here she was, wielding the Herrscher’s powers without a host. She couldn’t figure out why.
Moreover, the Herrscher of Corruption’s true form was supposed to be a mass of black mist unless it possessed someone. So why did I turn into a giant red eyeball instead?
Before she could ponder further, a wave of nausea hit her. It felt like something inside her was being forcibly drained away, forcing her to drop the train of thought.
“Right… If I look like this, the name ‘Wang Luowei’ doesn’t really fit. I’m the Herrscher of Corruption, retaining my humanity while tied to Elysia… So maybe I should call myself… Enoxia?” (A play on эрозия, the Russian word for “erosion.”)
Just then, she sensed someone approaching—a woman who looked like an Anti-Entropy Valkyrie.
“Seriously? I’ve only been in this world for like 15 minutes. How’d they find me so fast? Did I spawn right next to a Valkyrie squad?”
Thinking fast, Enochia flopped onto the ground, pretending to be unconscious, and ordered nearby Honkai beasts to attack her. To any unsuspecting Valkyrie, this would look like a human girl who’d barely survived a Honkai beast ambush.
As a Herrscher in the Honkai Impact universe, survival was priority number one. If she could fool this Valkyrie, she’d be seen as a survivor with high Honkai resistance. That meant access to Anti-Entropy’s systems—and for an Herrscher of Corruption, touching any electronic device was game over. With backups, she’d be virtually unkillable.
After a series of clashing noises, she felt gentle hands shaking her. Slowly opening her eyes, she was met with a delicate face—long black hair, golden irises, a light-yellow undershirt beneath a brown coat, and twin pistols holstered at her waist. The woman appeared to be in her early twenties, but Enochia didn’t recognize her from the game.
“I’m Valkyrie Huo Bufan of Anti-Entropy. You’re safe now. Can you tell me what happened?” she asked softly, helping Enochia up with a concerned expression.
“Huo Bufan? I don’t remember that name in Honkai. Then again, there are tons of Valkyries who never got named unless they were S-rank.” Suppressing her confusion, Enochia put on her best exhausted, traumatized expression and shook her head like a rattle-drum.
“I-I’m sorry… I don’t remember anything.”
Huo Bufan didn’t press further. After radioing in, she helped Enochia into a vehicle. Nearby were a few plastic bags.
“There’s water and food in the car. Help yourself if you need it.”
Enochia opened one of the bags—inside were packs of hardtack and bottles of water (somehow unfrozen despite the tundra). Not exactly gourmet, but in this frozen wasteland, any sustenance was a blessing.
“I look human, but I’m still that black mist at my core… Can I even eat and drink like a normal person?” Despite feeling no hunger, curiosity got the better of her. She tore open a pack, chewed a piece, swallowed, then took a sip of water.
“Huh. It works? And it tastes better than I expected.” Before she knew it, she’d finished the entire pack. Huo Bufan assumed she’d been stranded in the snow long before the Honkai beasts showed up and said nothing.
Hours later, the vehicle stopped in front of a snow-white facility.
“This is Anti-Entropy’s Siberian Branch. You’ll receive treatment here.” Huo Bufan whispered to her. Enochia gestured that she could walk on her own, and after a few steady steps, the Valkyrie led her inside.
After navigating a maze of empty corridors, they arrived at a sealed room. The automatic door slid open, revealing several massive tanks filled with fluids—some containing submerged human figures. Researchers bustled around computer stations.
Enochia’s gaze locked onto the largest terminal. Its sides were lined with dozens of buttons and unidentifiable instruments, while the central screen remained dark, inactive.
“Miles, is it okay for her to be looking around like this?” Huo Bufan asked a lead researcher, eyeing Enochia’s wandering hands.
“It’s fine. She’s just curious—she can’t activate anything without my clearance.” He adjusted his glasses. “So this is the girl you rescued during your mission?”
Huo Bufan nodded. “HQ detected possible Herrscher activity, so I was sent to investigate. By the time I arrived, the signal vanished, and she was the only survivor among the Honkai beasts.”
“So you’re thinking she has innate high Honkai resistance? Potential Valkyrie material?”
“Exactly. But it’s just a theory, so I thought—”
Suddenly, every light in the lab cut out. The door sealed shut, plunging the room into darkness.
Huo Bufan’s hand flew to her pistol.
“Stay calm.” Miles flicked on a flashlight and booted up the central terminal. “Let’s see… No data loss. All systems operational. Probably just a power surge. Give it a minute.”
Ten minutes later, the lights flickered back on, and the door reopened.
Only one problem remained—Enochia was gone.
