Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 141
“Since Chi’s capabilities far surpass those of an ordinary Huili, its memory remains vividly intact even when others have forgotten out of sheer terror…”
The death of Abundance’s followers at the hands of Lan’s light-arrows was an utterly predictable outcome. Though expected, witnessing this memory gave Enoxia a feeling akin to having a major plot hole from a twelve-year-old anime finally filled.
“The Huili possess a natural, uninterrupted, and delay-free communal video channel—almost like a constant neural link. Even if their homeworld was destroyed, the remaining Huili could instantly share information. Combined with their dual-pathwalkers’ abilities, a comeback wasn’t out of the question. So how did the Four Calamities end up exiled in a foreign land, reduced to such a pitiful state?”
With this question in mind, Enoxia continued reading.
【It wasn’t until the cataclysm struck that we realized shared dreaming wasn’t entirely an advantage. When His light-arrows fell, no matter where they were, every clansmember was so utterly shocked and terrified that they lost all ability to think—as if collectively brain-dead.】
【By the time the survivors gradually regained their senses, the second disaster had already begun.】
【Perhaps our clan’s abnormal state tipped off other factions. Mere days after the Huili were destroyed, our remaining pastures and settlements were immediately raided by other followers of Abundance. Most of the Huili territories were lost within months, and many clansmen were killed in the chaos.】
【The Hunt’s light-arrows clearly weren’t specifically aimed at our clan. Many Abundance followers, while looting, discovered that their own strongholds had been reduced to dust. After that, their plundering grew even more frenzied.】
【The logic was simple: if I have nothing left, then I must seize even more—the more I take, the more I recover. Even though their losses had nothing to do with the Huili, the reasoning was: “I can’t fight a Aeon, but I can certainly fight you.”】
【Fortunately, the Lord’s expedition plan had been launched much earlier. Though the fleet I led hadn’t yet found a new planet, some of our clansmen had already established a second home on Capybara Planet.】
【Facing an unprecedented crisis, the surviving Huili quickly gathered near Capybara Planet and repelled the attacks of the Abundance coalition.】
【But such is the nature of the cosmos: a weak collective can be wiped out at any moment because of a powerful individual.】
With the Huili star system reduced to ashes, we had to adopt a new calendar to maintain normal life and production. Left with no choice, the Huili chose to use the Xianzhou calendar.
In the year 4133 of the Star Calendar, Capybara Planet vanished from the universe. The perpetrator was an Emissary of Elation. After making the planet disappear, it publicly announced its motives.
The reason was simple: it had learned that Aha once blew Akivili’s Star Rail in half. Just like Aha, it found the idea absolutely hilarious. But since it couldn’t find the Star Rail, it decided to settle for the next best thing—blow up a planet for fun. In the end, it used a random draw to choose Capybara Planet. And just like that, all the efforts the Huili had poured into their second home were utterly erased.
At the time, even though this Emissary of Elation openly admitted to destroying the planet, it didn’t attract much attention. Feeling thoroughly snubbed, it left the stage bitterly disappointed.
After all, Lan’s emergence had instantly captured almost everyone’s attention. As for an Emissary of Elation blowing up a planet—a settlement of Abundance followers, no less—for fun? Well, it seemed the world still had plenty of “good souls” around.
【What’s more terrible than despair is despair that follows hope. After the destruction of our second home, the fleet I belonged to—numbering nearly ten thousand—became the largest gathering of our people. We had become the last hope.】
【In the year 4134 of the Star Calendar, the fleet entered an unknown rift. By the time we regained our bearings, we had arrived in another star domain. There were no followers of Abundance here—not even followers of other Paths.】
【At the time, I couldn’t understand: if He intended to wipe us out completely, why did He ignore our escape? If the followers of the Hunt had pursued us with full force, they might have intercepted us before we reached this star domain.】
【In the year 4200 of the Star Calendar, we entered a star system with a radius of approximately one light-year. The star at its center was a fiery ball with a surface temperature of about 6,000 degrees—the sun of this system.】
【Within this star system, the third planet was the most suitable for sustaining life. We decided to set our sights there.】
【As we approached the only satellite of the third planet, His light-arrows fell once again, igniting every inch of our bodies. Even though I had witnessed this scene before, experiencing it firsthand made every cell in my body tremble in terror. Transcending space, arriving in an instant, the light-arrows proclaimed the horror of the Hunt in the most unforgettable way:】
【Run. Flee to any corner of space, any crevice of time—He will always find you and nail you to your predetermined fate.】
【Once our clan became the target of His Hunt, our destiny was sealed. It didn’t matter if we fled to another star domain; even if we could escape to a time before His birth, the fleet would still be struck by His light-arrows.】
【If I hadn’t survived the light-arrows, I would never have had the chance to reflect on any of this.】
【Of course, even across billions of light-years, before the might of an Aeon, I am less than an ant. The only reason I survived is because He is merciful.】
【The third planet was inhabited by short-life species. He wished to minimize the collateral damage from the light-arrows’ aftermath on the third planet, so He held back.】
【The light-arrows struck the entire fleet with precision, yet not a single short-life species on the third planet died—directly or indirectly—from the aftermath.】
【However… because we were closer to that satellite, I sensed that something on it seemed to have changed.】
【But none of that mattered anymore. Aside from four survivors who crash-landed on the third planet, every other clansmember was vaporized under His precise strike.】
【Wang crash-landed near the North Pole of the third planet, Liang near the South Pole, and I landed on an island in the southern hemisphere.】
【As for Mei… though none of us could contact her, the Lord assured us that when it came to survival skills and the ability to integrate into unfamiliar civilizations, no one in the entire clan could surpass her.】
【Although aside from the Lord and a few elders, no one knew the exact nature of her abilities, she had repeatedly brought back intelligence from within the Xianzhou and the Interastral Peace Corporation. Her track record was verifiable. So I believe that even if all of us perish, she will still survive.】
