With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 50
“Good morning~”
“Morning.”
Xia Xi and Lin Xuening arrived at the classroom unusually early. After spending the night in each other’s unfamiliar rooms, surrounded by the other’s scent, neither of them had gotten much sleep.
Luckily, young bodies were resilient—pulling an all-nighter barely fazed them, leaving them as energetic as ever.
“I thought you’d wear one of those pretty little skirts? Didn’t expect you to go for such a plain hoodie and pants.”
Lin Xuening covered her mouth, stifling a laugh as she eyed Xia Xi’s outfit.
Her wardrobe was mostly filled with skirts and JK uniforms, so finding this oversized, unisex hoodie must have been a struggle for him.
“Oh, like you have room to talk. You have no idea how red my face was yesterday, walking around in that JK uniform.”
Xia Xi shot her a glare, his gaze involuntarily drifting downward from her face.
His own clothes were all loose-fitting, and if not for Xuening’s ahem generous proportions, the hoodie might have slipped right off.
Sure, her smooth shoulders were exposed, but it wasn’t that big of a deal…
“Xuening, you’re here so early! And no makeup or skirt today? That’s rare~”
Lin Xuening’s roommates were all grad-school-bound overachievers, so they took their studies seriously and were among the first to arrive in class.
“Huh? Even Xia Xi’s here this early? And dressed so… uh, scandalously… Did you two last night—?”
She wasn’t sure how to describe Xia Xi’s current look.
A guy wearing a short-sleeve hoodie with his shoulders and collarbone on full display? Was he trying to mimic those thirst-trap interns online to seduce their precious Xuening?
Combined with the fact that Lin Xuening hadn’t returned to the dorm last night—and hadn’t mentioned going home—it was entirely possible something had happened.
“N-No! Tingting, you’ve got it all wrong! Nothing happened between us!”
Seeing her roommate’s misunderstanding, Lin Xuening hurriedly tried to explain.
“Wait—what did you just call me?”
Wang Yuting’s guard shot up. She hugged her chest and took a step back.
“Tingting? What’s the problem?”
Lin Xuening still hadn’t grasped the severity of the situation.
“Xia Xi, we’re not that close. Just call me by my full name, okay?”
She subtly glanced at “Lin Xuening,” noticing how her usually Xia Xi-obsessed roommate showed zero reaction to him using such an intimate nickname for someone else.
This was weird!
There were only two possible explanations.
One: Lin Xuening had lost interest in Xia Xi, so whatever he did no longer mattered to her. But given how chummy they were this morning, that clearly wasn’t the case.
Two: Lin Xuening had already secured her victory—or had Xia Xi completely wrapped around her finger—hence her lack of concern about him getting close to others.
The second option seemed far more likely!
Deciding to investigate, Wang Yuting pulled Xia Xi aside and, pointing at Lin Xuening, whispered into his ear:
“Xuening, tell me the truth—did you confess to him yesterday?”
The bombshell question made Xia Xi’s pupils dilate.
“Huh? Me confess to her? No way.”
Even if the question was directed at “Lin Xuening,” Xia Xi couldn’t imagine the girl who constantly nagged him ever confessing.
Seriously, other girls pursued guys by bringing them water, sharing meals, or taking walks together.
But Lin Xuening?
She’d never given him anything—well, except for that “Manbo” plush yesterday, but that was probably just to repay him for lending her his jacket.
On a normal day, she wouldn’t even let him nap in class.
If she was this controlling before dating, what would happen if they got married? He’d be whipped into submission!
Absolutely not!
“What about that plush? Haven’t given it to him yet?”
Seeing how firmly he denied it, Wang Yuting was stumped. Was there really nothing going on?
Xia Xi was equally confused.
What did any of this have to do with the plush?
“Never mind. Do whatever you want.”
Noticing his furrowed brows, Wang Yuting gave up.
Her poor, lovestruck roommate was too timid—when would she ever muster the courage to chase a guy?
“Girls are so weird.”
Xia Xi returned to his seat beside Lin Xuening, scratching his head. He still had no clue what that whole exchange was about.
Why couldn’t girls just say things straight?
While Xia Xi remained unbothered, Lin Xuening was sweating bullets, terrified Wang Yuting had spilled something she shouldn’t have.
“Hey, Class Prez Lin, that plush you gave me… it’s not cursed or something, right?”
Xia Xi’s sudden question caught her off guard.
“Huh? No, it’s just a normal plush. Why?”
Lin Xuening quickly realized Wang Yuting must have mentioned the plush without explaining properly.
Bless you, Yuting! The queen of cryptic messages!
“Nothing, just asking.”
If Lin Xuening said it was harmless, he’d take her word for it. She wasn’t the type to lie.
…..
Today’s lecture was a snoozefest, and the classroom was emptier than usual.
Even the professor knew how pointless this class was, so he didn’t bother taking attendance. He’d just clock in, drone through the material, and leave.
“Wanna bail?”
Their body swap would last until 2 or 3 PM, and Xia Xi really didn’t want to spend lunchtime in the girls’ dorm.
What if he saw something he shouldn’t? No way he could explain that.
“But… it’s only the second class…”
Lin Xuening hesitated.
In all her years at university, she’d never skipped a single lecture—no matter how dull, she’d tough it out.
“Come on, it’s a useless class. No big deal. I’ll treat you to ice cream.”
After some coaxing, Lin Xuening finally caved.
Who would’ve thought her first time skipping class would be with Xia Xi?
Watching him crouch low and expertly slip out the back door, she suddenly felt like cutting a boring lecture wasn’t so bad—at least, not when it’s with him.
“These two are definitely up to something!”
Wang Yuting, who had unusually chosen a back-row seat today, witnessed the entire escape.
This was Lin Xuening! The diligent, never-miss-a-class goody-two-shoes!
Now she was not only skipping but doing it with Xia Xi—and moving like a seasoned pro!
To Wang Yuting, this bizarre behavior could only mean one thing: something had happened between them.
“Should I follow them?”
She eyed the open back door, torn.
“Alright, let’s take attendance.”
Sigh. Guess she’d have to cover for them.
Xuening, you owe me big for this one!
