With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 29
“Ugh!!! So annoying—how am I supposed to tie this hair?!”
Standing in front of the floor-length mirror, Xia Xi irritably tugged at his messy strands.
Today, he was wearing Liu Jiaying’s denim shorts and a white T-shirt. The shirt strained over his (well, her) ample chest, leaving a gap at the waist where cool breezes slipped in—refreshing and comfortable.
What frustrated him was the tangled mess of long hair he’d woken up with. He’d always kept his hair short before, just ruffling it a couple of times to call it styled. But girls’ long hair was different. If you wanted it to look decent, you had to comb it smooth and use all sorts of techniques to style it.
And Xia Xi? He had no clue how to do any of that. Even the comb in his hand was borrowed from his sister’s room.
“Whatever, leaving it down probably won’t be a big deal.”
With class time approaching, Xia Xi hastily grabbed a few slices of bread and a carton of milk before rushing out—not even bothering with textbooks.
Today’s lesson was on WeChat mini-program development, which only required the computer lab’s PCs. As for textbooks? The professor taught from slides anyway, so they were practically useless.
By the time he sprinted into the classroom, he was drenched in sweat. Strands of hair clung to his face in damp clumps, making him look utterly disheveled.
“Hey, have you noticed? Xia Xi looks way prettier than usual today.”
“Right? I always thought he was good-looking, but today it’s like his figure’s amazing too!”
“Seriously! How’s it fair that a guy has this kind of body? What are us girls supposed to do?”
As Xia Xi quietly made his way to the back row, whispers erupted among the class’s more gossipy girls.
Of course, the classroom wasn’t that big—no matter how softly they spoke, nearby classmates could still hear. What started as a few curious glances quickly turned into half the class staring at him by the time he sat down.
“What are you all looking at? Class is about to start—are your computers even on? Environments set up?!”
Lin Xueling, usually the picture of gentleness, suddenly stood up from the front row and barked at everyone.
Then she marched over and plopped down beside Xia Xi, shooting him a glance—her face inexplicably flushed.
Xia Xi scratched his head. Why’s this tyrant sticking up for me today? That’s not like her.
And what was up with these classmates? Was his real body not handsome enough? Why did switching into Liu Jiaying’s form suddenly make him the center of attention?!
“Um… Xia Xi.”
A tall, lanky guy suddenly approached, holding a note and a box of chocolates, his entire demeanor radiating shyness.
“What is it?”
The moment Xia Xi spoke, the guy stiffened, his cheeks turning bright red.
Yes—that icy, untouchable voice! That’s exactly what I wanted!
“I… I like you! Will you go out with me?!”
The sudden confession sent the class into an uproar.
Who knew this guy was gay?! No wonder he always sat alone and barely talked—mystery solved.
“I—I’m not gay!” the guy protested, his face burning.
“It’s just… Xia Xi is so pretty. Prettier than most girls! So… will you? Xia Xi!!!”
Why are you yelling?!
You’re not gay? Well, neither am I, dude! My orientation’s perfectly normal!
And with that build, are you imagining some “Jiege, don’t! Jiege, stooop!” scenario?!
“No!”
Before Xia Xi could respond, Lin Xueling slammed her hands on the desk and shot to her feet.
“Huh?”
Realizing how aggressive she’d sounded, Lin Xueling’s face reddened slightly as she stiffly composed herself.
“I mean… Two guys dating? That’s just wrong.”
“But… the school even offers subsidies for same-sex relationships…”
“I said no, okay?!”
“Why not? This is between me and Xia Xi—what’s it to you, Class Prez?!”
“I—”
Lin Xueling’s interference earned her odd looks from the crowd.
She was just an elected class officer, not Xia Xi’s parent or guardian. She really had no right to meddle like this.
Truthfully, everyone could see it—while the class prez acted like she had it out for Xia Xi, her real feelings were… well, obvious.
Seeing Lin Xueling flounder, Xia Xi rapped his knuckles on the desk, redirecting attention to himself.
Letting a girl bail him out? That wasn’t his style.
“Sorry, but I’m not interested in dating anyone. Also, I like girls, so… give it up.”
A clean rejection was the best outcome for everyone.
By 11 a.m., his body would swap back—who knew if this guy would look back and cringe at himself for confessing to another dude?
Beside him, Lin Xueling exhaled quietly in relief.
Good. If even someone like me hasn’t found a boyfriend yet, you’re not allowed to beat me to it, Xia Xi!
“NOOO—!!!”
The rejected guy crumpled like the world had ended, slumping back to his seat and burying his face in his arms. Was he… crying?
Over a rejection? Really?
…Okay, maybe it was kind of sad.
Luckily, the professor walked in just then, and the class quickly refocused on the lesson.
Of course, this little incident was absolutely going viral on the campus gossip boards. College students spread drama faster than Usain Bolt sprinted.
“I only spoke up because two guys dating is just weird. Don’t get the wrong idea.”
Lin Xueling shot Xia Xi a glance before hurriedly turning back to her computer.
“Then why’d you sit next to me? You always take front row.”
Xia Xi was baffled. What was her deal lately, clinging to him like this?
Was it just to police his sleeping and phone use in class?
“As class prez, it’s my job to supervise your studies!”
“Who asked you to supervise me?!”
They were adults! Did she think he couldn’t take responsibility for himself?
“Too bad. I’m sitting here. Don’t like it? Complain to the professor.”
Lin Xueling huffed, glaring at him before pointedly ignoring him.
“Such an idiot…” she muttered under her breath.
“What was that? Talking trash about me?”
“None of your business!”
