With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 11
“Which end of this thing is supposed to be the head and which is the tail?”
Seated in his wheelchair, Xia Xi turned a chocolate cornet over in his hands.
This pastry was strange.
If you considered the narrow end as the “head,” it barely had any chocolate—just plain bread. But if you took the wider end as the head, though it was overflowing with chocolate, it looked awkward to bite into.
“Haven’t you had one before? Actually, you’re supposed to—”
“Wait! I get it now. You start eating from the narrow end, right?”
Xia Xi felt like he had uncovered the truth.
As the saying goes, saving the best for last is the key to enjoyment. Just like that essay they read in Chinese class—if you save the beef in your noodle soup for the end, every bite of noodles comes with anticipation.
So, without letting Luo Xinyu finish, he took a big bite from the pointed tip of the cornet.
“Y-you—!”
“What about me?”
“That’s not how you eat it! You can’t just ruin bread like that!”
Luo Xinyu, who was usually so polite, became surprisingly assertive when it came to proper bread etiquette.
“You’re supposed to tear off pieces from the tip and dip them in the chocolate filling.”
Because they shared the same body, Luo Xinyu could taste everything Xia Xi did. That was why she felt he was wasting it.
Her precious chocolate cornet had fallen into the hands of someone who didn’t even know how to eat it properly.
“I don’t care. This is how I want to eat it. You just don’t understand the joy of saving the best for last.”
Even if his method wasn’t technically correct, Xia Xi refused to admit it. He took another big bite from the tip, tearing off a chunk of bread before chewing and swallowing.
“Heresy! Absolute heresy!”
Luo Xinyu was clearly furious.
“Alright, alright, it’s just bread. No need to get so worked up.”
Listening to her grumbling in his head, Xia Xi finally gave in and tried her suggested method.
Admittedly, it did taste better this way—though the difference wasn’t huge.
After finishing a few pastries, it was time for their enjoyable drawing lesson.
People often said, “If only my [subject] teacher were a gorgeous woman, I’d pay way more attention in class.”
That was pretty much Xia Xi’s situation right now.
Even though this “gorgeous teacher” was technically using his body, the experience of hearing her soft voice in his mind—gently guiding him step by step, pointing out mistakes, and showing him how to improve—was genuinely delightful.
The most obvious result? Xia Xi’s stick-figure-level drawing skills improved at an astonishing rate.
“You’re learning so fast!”
Even Luo Xinyu was amazed by his progress.
Back when she had a private tutor, it had taken her a full week to master the basics of figure sketching to the point where she could draw naturally.
“Because I’m a genius~”
Hearing those words in Luo Xinyu’s voice made it sound like a proud girl gloating over her own talent.
But whether he was actually a genius—only Xia Xi knew the truth.
If he weren’t in Luo Xinyu’s body, he might not have reached this level even after a month of practice. That’s just how it was for ordinary people. Hard work could make up for a lack of talent, but talent still made all the difference.
“By the way, why did you want to learn drawing in my body?”
This was a question Luo Xinyu had been holding back all day. Normally, if a guy suddenly became a rich young lady like her, wouldn’t he indulge in the luxurious lifestyle—spending recklessly and bossing the servants around? Why would he choose to study instead?
“Because you’re good at drawing. I’m just seizing the opportunity to improve myself.”
After finishing another cartoon sketch, Xia Xi answered casually.
Of course, that was a complete lie.
“Improving himself”? That sounded noble, but the truth was much simpler—he wanted to try making comics.
Replicating those master-level novels was impossible, but with his memory of countless stories and movies, all he needed was decent drawing skills to recreate some popular manga.
“But I’m also really good at piano. Why aren’t you practicing that?”
Hearing her question, Xia Xi rolled his eyes.
“My dear young lady, playing piano requires using your feet too, you know? And given your body’s condition…”
He was actually curious—how could someone with no sensation in their legs reach Level 8 in piano? It made no sense.
“What do you mean ‘using feet’? Technology has come a long way. Go take a look at my piano, and you’ll see.”
Luo Xinyu seemed eager to share this with her “roommate,” urging Xia Xi to check out the piano on the left side of the room.
Since he’d been drawing for a while and was getting tired, a little tour of the girl’s bedroom sounded like a nice break.
With a light press on a button embedded in the wheelchair’s armrest, the expensive-looking chair smoothly moved forward.
“What’s so different about this piano?”
He rested his fingers on the keys, and a crisp sound rang out.
Though he’d never seen a real piano up close, he’d seen plenty online. From what he remembered, this one looked mostly the same.
“Silly, haven’t you noticed the extra support panel?”
Only then did Xia Xi spot it—a small extension about two fingers wide near the keys, with three tiny buttons in the center.
And beneath the piano, the three pedals were each connected to a metal rod. Definitely not standard.
Curious, he pressed one of the buttons.
Immediately, the corresponding pedal was pressed down by the metal rod. The buttons perfectly replaced the need for feet.
Sure, playing while constantly adjusting buttons seemed inconvenient—maybe even requiring inhuman hand speed—but for someone like Luo Xinyu, who couldn’t use her legs, this design was brilliant.
Xia Xi could only sigh in admiration. Rich people really do get whatever they want.
“So? Want to give it a try?”
“Nope.”
“Why not?!”
“Your playing method is useless to me. Drawing’s way more practical.”
Seriously, he had perfectly functional legs. Why would he need to learn button-operated piano?
Besides, he definitely couldn’t afford a custom-made instrument like this.
Sure, many pieces didn’t require pedals, but still—no point biting off more than he could chew.
“Hmph! Plenty of people beg me to teach them, and I refuse. So there!”
Her soft voice echoed in his mind, and Xia Xi could practically see Luo Xinyu sticking her tongue out at him.
