The Almighty Martial Arts System - Chapter 325
Su Nan had been hitting a rough patch lately.
The storefront for her clinic and pharmacy—well, after her divorce from Li Wei, he had taken all the cash and savings from their household, leaving her practically penniless. Even though she scraped together funds later, even borrowing money from her parents, to finally get the clinic up and running, she had only managed to sign a six-month lease for the space.
As it turned out, her clinic did great business. Especially after Jiang Fei closed down his own clinic and moved away, hers became the best one in the neighborhood. Over those six months, she managed to save a decent amount of money.
But then, just when she was preparing to renew the lease with the landlord, he outright refused to rent to her anymore and told her to move out! There was no room for negotiation at all. Even when Su Nan offered to pay more, the landlord wouldn’t budge.
Su Nan really didn’t want to move. Not only was her current clinic location excellent and close to home, but more importantly, she had already built up a reputation in the area. She had a steady stream of patients who were accustomed to coming to her for treatment.
If she had to relocate and start over somewhere else, she’d be back to square one. She’d have to rebuild her reputation from scratch, which would be a huge hassle.
But there was nothing she could do. The landlord was completely unmovable.
Since he refused, Su Nan couldn’t force him. With only a few days left on her lease, she had to face reality and start looking for another suitable storefront for her clinic.
Right then, her ex-husband, Li Wei, showed up. He just ‘happened’ to find out that her clinic space was being taken back and proactively came to tell her that he knew of a great storefront in a good location, with a low price, perfectly suited for a new clinic.
Naturally, Su Nan didn’t trust Li Wei. After the divorce and everything that happened afterward, she had seen his true colors clearly. So when Li Wei approached her, she ignored him without hesitation. No matter how sweet his words were, she refused to act on them and was determined to find a new place herself.
Strangely enough, whether she searched on her own or went through agencies, she found that there weren’t just no good storefronts available nearby—there weren’t any suitable for a pharmacy at all!
A full week passed. The deadline was looming, and Su Nan still hadn’t found a place.
Then, Li Wei appeared again. This time, he sounded very sincere, acting like a completely reformed man. He said he wanted to help her and her daughter, as a way to make up for his past mistakes. He pleaded with her to just let him help find a new storefront.
Having no other options left, Su Nan felt forced to agree to go take a look.
To her surprise, the storefront was indeed excellent. It was in a prime location, even better than her current clinic. There was a dense flow of people, plenty of residential complexes nearby, and the size was just right.
After seeing it, Su Nan was very satisfied and wanted to rent it immediately. Li Wei, smiling, then helped facilitate contact with the owner of the space.
This owner was Guo Jianren.
When Guo Jianren wasn’t drinking, he actually looked quite respectable. He didn’t have the classic villainous appearance you often see on TV. They discussed the price, which was indeed not very high and within Su Nan’s budget. This made her even more eager to secure the lease.
Just as Su Nan mentioned signing the contract, Guo Jianren said there was no hurry. It was dinnertime, so why not have dinner together first and then sign? Li Wei chimed in, agreeing it was fine.
Su Nan frowned. Her first instinct was to refuse.
But she really needed to rent that space. Her current situation didn’t allow for any more delays. Otherwise, when her lease expired, she wouldn’t even know where to store all the equipment and medicine from her clinic!
To secure the contract, she had to agree to dinner. She decided she would just be very careful, watch her step, and absolutely refuse any alcohol.
Besides, this Boss Guo didn’t seem like a bad person. Most importantly, she felt that even if Li Wei was shady, he probably wouldn’t sink to the absolute worst. Having him along for dinner should be okay.
So, she agreed.
During dinner, things unfolded contrary to Su Nan’s expectations. Boss Guo Jianren didn’t even mention alcohol the whole time; everyone drank soft drinks. His conversation was polite and never crossed any lines. This put Su Nan at ease, and she even felt a bit ashamed for having suspected his intentions.
After dinner, Guo Jianren ‘suddenly’ got the idea—prompted by Li Wei’s ‘casual’ remark that Su Nan had a lovely singing voice—and suggested going to a KTV to sing for a couple of hours. By now, her guard significantly lowered, Su Nan agreed once again.
Then, less than an hour into singing, Su Nan realized she had been drugged. Both Li Wei and Guo Jianren revealed their true, vicious, and repulsive faces, closing in on her like a helpless lamb.
——-
The door to the private room suddenly burst open. Even with the loud music, the commotion startled everyone inside.
Boss Guo, holding a glass of red wine with his clothes half-undone, also turned around quickly with a frown. He initially thought some fool had the nerve to interrupt him and was ready to curse them out. But then he saw his bodyguard and the security captain of this Midsummer KTV come flying into the room, landing on the floor and groaning in pain.
Trouble!
The sudden situation stunned Boss Guo, freezing the expression on his face.
However, after a moment, he wasn’t frightened or panicked. Instead, he glared angrily at Jiang Fei and asked coldly, “Who are you? What do you think you’re doing?”
What a joke. In Jin City, he, Guo Jianren, was a notable figure. Over the years, he’d traveled north and south, dealing extensively with both the official authorities and the underworld. His connections spanned all areas. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare to pull this stunt on Su Nan in the KTV, and a scumbag like Li Wei wouldn’t have proactively offered up his ‘wife’ for his amusement!
What kind of storms hadn’t he weathered? In Guo Jianren’s eyes, some random punk who barged in could be scared off just by his domineering aura!
This was the confidence of a man in his position.
And truly, just the name ‘Guo Jianren’ could easily accomplish many things. Not many dared to disrespect him.
“What am I doing?” Jiang Fei walked into the room with a smile.
Seeing that Su Nan hadn’t been subjected to the worst yet, Jiang Fei felt a slight relief, but the fury in his heart didn’t diminish much.
Seeing Jiang Fei approach, Guo Jianren still wasn’t overly afraid. He even calmly took a sip of his red wine, then looked at Jiang Fei and sneered, “I’ll give you one chance now. Get out on your own. And note my wording—’get out’ on your own. Then close the door behind you. I’ll pretend none of this ever happened.”
Jiang Fei wasn’t amused. His inner displeasure kept him from finding anything funny right now. He clenched his fist and said, “What if I don’t want this chance?”
“Don’t want it? Then you’re refusing a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit! Go ask around. In all of Jin City, how many people who offend me, Guo Jianren, end up well? Making your family ruined and destitute would be a light punishment!” By the end, Guo Jianren drained his glass, his voice harsh and his expression fierce, glaring at Jiang Fei with intense malice. A murderous aura seemed to radiate from him, full of that tyrannical air. Someone with a weaker nerve might genuinely have been intimidated by his presence.
However, his calculations for today were destined to fail.
Because he was facing Jiang Fei…
Jiang Fei had no patience left for this guy’s nonsense, nor any desire to watch him show off. He stepped forward and punched the asshole hard right in his punchable face.
Thwack!
The force was substantial. The blow collapsed Guo Jianren’s nose bridge and knocked out who knows how many teeth. Blood instantly splattered. The hit sent him reeling like a ragdoll, toppling headfirst to the floor.
But Jiang Fei showed no signs of stopping. He grabbed liquor bottles from the coffee table and smashed them down on the guy’s head.
Crash! Crash!
Two bottles shattered, liquid splashing everywhere.
Then a kick with the left foot, another with the right, as he roared, “Guo the B*tch? The name fits! That’s for drugging her! That’s for showing off in front of me! Show off again, I dare you!”
Su Nan, curled up in the corner of the sofa, had felt utterly hopeless. But just as her defenses were about to crumble completely, the private room door was kicked open, and a very familiar figure walked in.
Jiang Fei!
It was Jiang Fei, the man who had saved her at critical moments several times before!
Su Nan almost thought her eyes were deceiving her, that it was a hallucination. It wasn’t until Jiang Fei spoke and started violently beating Guo Jianren that she knew it was real.
Watching Jiang Fei’s not-particularly-broad frame, Su Nan felt so overwhelmed she wanted to cry.
This scene felt different from the time troublemakers had stormed her clinic, claiming she had killed a patient through malpractice, trying to extort and beat her. But the feeling it evoked was the same. It filled Su Nan’s heart with immense gratitude. She saw this man as her savior, someone who could stir tremors deep within her soul!
The moment Su Nan saw Jiang Fei, it was like seeing the gates of heaven swing open, shedding countless dazzling rays of light. And Jiang Fei was the angel within that light, walking towards her. It made Su Nan’s heart flutter uncontrollably. She desperately wished she could offer herself to him. The dampness between her legs became more pronounced—whether it was the effect of the drugs or her genuine feelings for Jiang Fei, she didn’t know…
“Jiang Fei…” Su Nan’s perfect, oval face already leaned towards the enchanting side. Now, with her blushing cheeks and eyes glistening with unshed tears, she looked even more captivating. Her red lips parted and she called out Jiang Fei’s name, the sound almost like a moan.
Along with the immense surprise and relief in her heart, she also felt deeply ashamed. She desperately didn’t want Jiang Fei to see her in such a disgraceful state, acting like a wanton woman, itching with desire. She tried to stand up and straighten her clothes. But waves of tingling numbness, like electric currents shocking her body, felt like millions of ants were gently biting her from within. She was utterly weak, feeling extremely uncomfortable, and completely unable to stand.
Instead, now that she knew she was safe, the tightly wound string in Su Nan’s mind suddenly snapped. Her body grew even more restless, and the twisting of her legs intensified.
