Super Doctor - Chapter 33
The days that followed were extremely busy yet fulfilling for Xu Ze. After attending classes, he would spend his lunch break practicing energy circulation. As time went by, he was able to complete seven cycles in one session, getting closer to the nine-cycle threshold required for a Level 1 medic.
Basketball had also become a daily routine for him. Every day, he would spend an hour or two on the court, engaging in intense matches with his teammates.
Under Bond’s rigorous four-hour daily training, Xu Ze was no longer the rookie who had just stepped onto the court with a hint of natural talent. He had now become a skilled basketball player.
Over the past few weeks, Xu Ze’s position in the department team had steadily risen, and he was now considered a key player. With consistent training and the basketball experience he had gained from Tao Jun, as Little Knife had once said, dominating Xingda University didn’t seem like a big challenge anymore. It was just a matter of time.
Of course, since there hadn’t been any recent matches and the team had deliberately kept a low profile under Luozi’s instructions, not many people were aware that the clinical medicine department had gained a new star player.
The only noticeable change was the increasing number of beautiful girls showing up to watch the team’s practices. Li Yan, Tao Xiaoyun, and others had started frequenting the training grounds. The girls’ cheers gave the team members even more motivation to pour their energy into the games.
Between attending classes, playing basketball, practicing energy circulation, and working part-time, the days flew by. Little Knife’s theoretical lessons were almost complete, and Xu Ze had finished learning the basics of primary medical theory. He had also started studying the primary theories of battlefield first aid.
The benefits of this learning were undeniable. Although much of the knowledge was ahead of modern medicine, Xu Ze now had a deeper understanding of subjects like diagnostics, imaging, and general surgery, even surpassing the professors teaching these courses.
Of course, Xu Ze understood the importance of staying low-key. Even though many of the concepts taught by the professors seemed elementary compared to his advanced knowledge, he didn’t show any impatience. Instead, he carefully noted the differences between modern and future medicine, ensuring that he wouldn’t stray too far from current medical practices during exams or other situations.
During his time learning from Dr. Zhang at the clinic, Xu Ze had gained even more knowledge. Many diseases that had previously puzzled him were now clear, thanks to Dr. Zhang’s explanations.
Now, when examining patients, Xu Ze could often diagnose their conditions without relying on the system’s advanced equipment. By combining the theories he had memorized with Dr. Zhang’s practical experience, he was able to handle cases with remarkable precision. This not only pleased Dr. Zhang but also left him in awe of Xu Ze’s talent.
As a result, Dr. Zhang began teaching Xu Ze everything he knew without holding back. He even let Xu Ze take the lead in diagnosing patients, while he supervised from the side.
Now, Dr. Xu from the Huimin Clinic had gained some fame around Xingda University. Even when Dr. Zhang wasn’t around, many regular patients were happy to have Xu Ze treat them, which significantly lightened Dr. Zhang’s workload.
For the past few weekends, Xu Ze hadn’t gone home. The incident from last time was still a hot topic in town, and he didn’t want to risk someone showing up at his doorstep.
Recently, Xu Ze noticed that Saturdays were the busiest days at the clinic. Most patients came in with colds, taking advantage of the weekend to get IV drips. This kept Xu Ze busy from morning till night.
By around 10 PM, most patients had left. Dr. Zhang and the pharmacist had already gone home, leaving only Xu Ze and Sister Luo to clean up.
Looking at the dark sky outside, Xu Ze smiled and said, “Sister Luo, it’s getting late. You can head home. I’ll take care of the rest.”
Sister Luo checked her watch and nodded. “Alright, Xu Ze. Thanks for staying. Make sure you get some rest too. Tomorrow’s going to be another busy day.”
“Got it, Sister Luo. You go ahead. Don’t keep your family waiting.”
After Sister Luo left, Xu Ze finished cleaning the consultation and injection rooms. He then grabbed a mop and carefully mopped the floors. Dr. Zhang was very particular about cleanliness, so Xu Ze made sure everything was spotless.
While mopping the injection room, he suddenly heard a faint voice from outside. “Is the doctor here?”
“Why is there a patient at this hour?” Xu Ze frowned, put down the mop, and walked out of the injection room. He was about to tell the person to go elsewhere when he saw a familiar figure leaning against the door, collapsing to the ground.
Xu Ze’s heart skipped a beat. “Why is today so unlucky…”
He quickly ran over and carefully turned the person over. When he saw the beautiful face with closed eyes and flushed cheeks, he gasped. “Sun Lingfei?” After a moment’s hesitation, he picked her up.
“She’s heavier than I thought,” Xu Ze muttered, feeling the weight of her delicate body in his arms. He hurriedly carried her into the injection room.
As he ran, the soft fragrance of her body wafted into his nose, making his heart race. But now wasn’t the time for distractions. He quickly laid Sun Lingfei down on a reclining chair.
Seeing the unusual redness on her beautiful face, Xu Ze frowned and touched her forehead. “She’s burning up!”
He gently patted her cheek. “Sun Lingfei, wake up, wake up…”
In response to his calls, Sun Lingfei only let out a faint murmur, showing no other signs of consciousness.
Xu Ze frowned and quickly grabbed a thermometer. However, seeing her white T-shirt, he hesitated. It was a bit awkward—to take her temperature, he’d have to lift her clothes…
“But she’s unconscious now. She probably won’t notice, right?” Xu Ze gritted his teeth and gently pulled open the collar of her T-shirt. When he caught a glimpse of the pink bra underneath, his heart skipped a beat…
But as a dedicated and righteous medical intern, Xu Ze managed to regain his composure. He calmly lifted her right arm and placed the thermometer under her armpit, making sure it was secure before reluctantly withdrawing his hand.
He then went to the consultation room to fetch a small flashlight. Gently lifting her eyelids, he checked her pupils. They were of equal size and responsive to light, indicating that there were no major issues with her brain. She was simply unconscious, which eased his worries slightly.
After a short while, he estimated that enough time had passed for the thermometer to give an accurate reading. He reached into her alluring chest once again to retrieve the thermometer…
