Super Doctor - Chapter 119
The final exams proceeded quietly, shrouded in an atmosphere of tension as students buried themselves in last-minute studying. Amid it all, Xu Ze stood out as an anomaly…
Luo Zi, Fatty, and the others watched with frustration as Xu Ze sprawled across his desk, books in hand, his delicate brows slightly furrowed in what seemed like an exaggeratedly carefree nap. They couldn’t help but feel a pang of unfairness. In previous years, this guy had been the most anxious one when exams rolled around—so what was up with him now?
Still, their indignation was nothing new. They’d spent the better part of the year feeling this way, so they’d grown somewhat accustomed to it. After all, Xu Ze had practically become a different person these past six months, as if blessed by some divine luck. There didn’t seem to be anything he couldn’t handle. Judging by his current demeanor, he must’ve already had the exams in the bag. Exchanging resigned glances, the trio sighed and returned to their frantic studying.
Xu Ze yawned, slowly sitting up and scanning the room. The rustling of pages and the scratching of pens filled the air, but to him, it all felt unbearably dull.
Originally, he’d planned to stay home and focus on his cultivation. But Luo Zi and the others had called him multiple times, insisting they’d saved him a seat so they could study together—for the sake of “atmosphere.” Remembering how they’d always done this in previous years, he grabbed a book and ambled over without much thought.
Yet now, with zero pressure weighing on him, he couldn’t bring himself to force his way through the material. Instead, he’d opted to rest his head on the desk and zone out.
After a while, though, even that grew tiresome. Frustrated, Xu Ze glanced around before finally muttering, “Luo Zi, I’m gonna head out for a bit. It’s way too stuffy in here…”
“Mm… Go ahead. If you’re already confident, no need to suffer here with us… Ugh…” Luo Zi looked up, taking in Xu Ze’s utterly relaxed expression before sighing in self-pity.
Under the envious gazes of his friends, Xu Ze strolled out of the classroom. The hallway was empty—apparently, everyone was holed up inside studying this late in the afternoon.
Checking the time, he saw it was barely past three. Still too early for anything substantial. After a moment’s thought, he headed toward North Lake, figuring he could find a quiet spot to rest and test whether cultivating by the water was more effective than at home.
As he approached the lake, however, he found most of the prime spots already taken by studying students. Resigned, he walked further toward the park side, eventually discovering a secluded corner—a patch of lush green grass shaded by two cherry blossom trees. Perfect for napping or meditating.
Xu Ze settled against a tree, lying back with his hands behind his head. Taking in the serene lake view and breathing in the crisp air, he exhaled contentedly before closing his eyes and initiating his energy circulation.
The energy cluster flowed steadily through his Ren and Du meridians, drawing in the surrounding particles at a noticeably faster rate than at home. Sensing the denser energy, Xu Ze inwardly cheered. Just as I thought. I should come here more often—it’ll speed up my progress.
Satisfied, he immersed himself fully in cultivation. Based on his current accumulation, he estimated he’d be ready to attempt the sixteenth cycle in about ten days. Once that happened, his next breakthrough wouldn’t be far off.
Time slipped by unnoticed as the sun began its descent. Meanwhile, a girl holding a book walked along the lakeside from the park’s direction.
Dressed in a soft beige dress, her long hair loosely pinned up, she seemed to have been studying in the park. Now, as dusk approached, she made her way back to campus, her cheerful expression suggesting she was in good spirits.
But when she spotted Xu Ze resting beneath the cherry blossoms, she paused. The profile of his handsome face was unmistakable—this was the same Xu Ze who’d become the university’s hottest topic over the past two months.
A faint smile touched her lips. As the star anchor of the campus TV station, she’d somehow never formally met the school’s top celebrity. Running into him here felt oddly serendipitous.
Curious, Tao Yiyi approached quietly, sitting on the grass nearby to study the guy who’d somehow won Sun Lingfei’s heart.
Though deep in cultivation, Xu Ze remained aware of his surroundings. The light footsteps told him it was a girl—not someone he knew, but he sensed no ill intent. Since he was at a critical point in his fifteenth cycle, he chose to finish the rotation rather than interrupt his progress.
Tao Yiyi hugged her knees, observing the young man’s refined features—his delicate brows, straight nose, and well-shaped lips. She nodded approvingly. No wonder Sun Lingfei fell for him. He’s way better-looking than Zhang Tianyu, and that fearless, principled attitude of his must’ve sealed the deal.
Finally completing his cycle, Xu Ze opened his eyes to meet the girl’s amused gaze.
“Tao Yiyi?” He sat up, recognizing the campus TV star even if they’d never spoken. Smiling, he asked, “How long have you been here? Enjoying the sunset?”
“Sunset?” She glanced back at the crimson horizon, the sun now a mere sliver. With a light laugh, she said, “Not really. I was studying in the park and just happened to pass by… though I wouldn’t mind admiring the view.”
“Hah! No wonder you’re the campus TV’s top host—always so charming with words.” Xu Ze chuckled, then stood. “North Lake is easily the best part of our university. A walk here always lifts the mood.”
“Absolutely.” Her eyes sparkled with agreement. “The scenery here is unmatched in Star City. It’s our pride.”
Checking his watch—5:30—Xu Ze figured it was time to head to the old man’s place for dinner. “You heading back, Yiyi? The sun’s almost gone.”
“It’s Saturday. You have plans already?” she asked, surprised.
“Yeah, some things to take care of tonight.”
Her eyes gleamed with playful curiosity. “A date with Lingfei? Rumor has it you two are… close.”
Catching her teasing tone, Xu Ze shook his head with a faint smile. “No, I’m heading to Tianyang Mountain. An elder asked to see me.”
“Tianyang Mountain?” Her expression brightened. “Perfect timing! I need to go home to grab a few things. Mind if I hitch a ride?”
“You live there?” Surprised, he nodded. “Sure. I’m leaving now—you ready?”
“Yep! I’ll just eat at home and grab what I need. If you’re heading back later, maybe I can catch a ride back to campus too?” She beamed.
Her radiant smile stirred something in Xu Ze. No wonder she’s ranked alongside Sun Lingfei as one of the university’s top beauties. But the thought of Lingfei quickly reeled him in. “Alright, let’s go.”
Soon, the Maserati glided onto the suburban roads. With fewer cars around, Xu Ze lowered the convertible top, letting the evening breeze wash over them—fresh and invigorating, free of exhaust fumes.
Tao Yiyi’s eyes shone with admiration. “This car is amazing. Did your elder gift this to you too?”
“Yep.” He grinned. “No way I could afford even one wheel otherwise.”
“So the forum rumors were true.” She laughed. “Your elder must really dote on you.”
“Pretty much. Grandpa’s been incredible. He even handled that court mess for me—otherwise, I wouldn’t be this relaxed now.”
Intrigued, she tried guessing which Tianyang Mountain resident this might be, but came up blank.
As they chatted, a sudden honk erupted behind them. A sports car roared past, followed closely by another, both speeding recklessly by. Xu Ze frowned but said nothing.
