Special Agent’s Rebirth: The Almighty Goddess of Quick Transmigration - Chapter 275
The guards stationed outside the base gate scrutinized the approaching convoy.
“Wait here. I’ll inform our supervisor,” one of them said, eyeing the disheveled group with skepticism. It was hard to believe these people were the infamous Doom Trio.
After all, the Doom Trio had made a name for themselves early in the apocalypse. They were the first to reach second-tier abilities and had even developed a miraculous medicine. Logically, they should have been far more formidable.
Yet, the people before them looked exhausted—not filthy, but certainly not pristine. Compared to Miss Ye’s group, they appeared downright ragged.
Having seen Miss Ye’s team, the guard couldn’t help but suspect these people were imposters.
When the supervisor of the capital’s base arrived, he, too, was doubtful. “You… are the Doom Trio?”
“Yes,” Ye Xiangxiang replied, her tone haughty after weeks of being fawned over by others. “These are my friends—Xu Qi and Gu Yuan.”
Her arrogance made the supervisor narrow his eyes.
Frankly, even Ye Shaohua hadn’t been this condescending. If it had been her, the supervisor might have forced a smile, but this was Ye Xiangxiang. His expression quickly turned cold.
Ye Xiangxiang introduced everyone in their convoy.
Her group consisted of individuals who had been renowned in the apocalypse of her past life. At this point in the timeline, most survivors were still second-tier ability users. Third-tier zombies had already developed intelligence and could control other undead, making their cores extremely difficult to obtain.
But with three reincarnators in their ranks, Ye Xiangxiang’s team had an easier time hunting third-tier zombies. Aside from the trio, they also had two other third-tier ability users, while the rest were second-tier.
In her past life, such a lineup could have easily overrun a small safe zone.
Naturally, everyone in the group carried an air of superiority.
Yet, the supervisor showed no reaction. He merely nodded indifferently. “If you want to join our base, I’ll need to consult our chief first.”
He led them to the residential area in Zone B—a third-floor apartment. While the conditions were mediocre compared to the base’s standards, they were still far better than most other shelters.
“Shouldn’t the supervisor have given you three a tour of the base?” one of the younger members muttered, puzzled.
They had expected a grand welcome, but the reception had been lukewarm at best. The third-tier ability users in the group bristled at the slight but held back their anger, reminding themselves that this was the capital’s safe zone.
“Big bases probably have stricter protocols,” Ye Xiangxiang mused, though she, too, found it odd. Shrugging it off, she pushed open the window, breathing in the lively atmosphere below. “This… is the base we’ve dreamed of.”
Gu Yuan and the others had seen even grander safe zones in their past lives, but none had been as awe-inspiring as this one.
Even though the supervisor hadn’t shown them around, the glimpses they’d caught on the way in were enough—irrigated vegetable plots, orderly infrastructure—it almost felt like the peaceful world from months ago, not the apocalypse.
Even Xu Qi, who had been haunted by the trauma of their past life, finally smiled.
They had finally changed their fate—the fate of being betrayed by Ye Shaohua and left to die in N City.
“You three should’ve just revealed your third-tier abilities,” a youth polishing his weapon scoffed. “If they knew, they’d be falling over themselves to keep us here with the best conditions.”
Every other base they’d visited had reacted that way.
Ye Xiangxiang chuckled. Unless absolutely necessary, she preferred not to intimidate people with their strength.
She was confident the base would come begging for their power soon enough.
…..
Meanwhile, in the laboratory…
“Miss Ye, how did you fuse these two ingredients?” The doctor held a test tube, his face flushed with excitement after analyzing the mental-recovery potion she had developed. He had countless questions—how she’d devised the formula, the process—everything.
This was a formula Ye Shaohua had created in the future world, something even the elites of the apocalypse had struggled to replicate, let alone these survivors.
“Mental-recovery potions must be brewed individually. I don’t have time for mass production right now,” Ye Shaohua explained before shifting the topic. “But you can study this instead.”
She scribbled another formula and handed it to him.
“This is…?”
“An improved stamina-recovery potion for ability users,” she said flatly, raising a hand to stop the doctor’s attempted hug. “I analyzed the Doom Trio’s medicine. Their version has severe side effects. I’ve refined it.”
The other researchers nearly cheered, though none dared to lift her into the air like the doctor had tried.
The doctor didn’t mind her rejection. He was too busy wishing he had ten extra hands to study these breakthroughs.
Was Ye Shaohua always this terrifying? Just by looking at a sample, she could deduce the formula and pinpoint its flaws in seconds. Damn—
The more he thought about it, the more exhilarated he became.
The lab had been wholly devoted to researching her potions, leaving no time for anything else.
The base supervisor, aware of the lab’s critical work, had tightened security around it.
He also deeply regretted allowing those hundred ability users to abandon Ye Shaohua’s team.
But at least the incident had given him insight into her temperament.
Under Su Ran’s amused gaze, the supervisor swallowed his pride and carefully inquired about Ye Shaohua’s preferences and personality before leaving, deep in thought.
“Sir, the Doom Trio—Ye Xiangxiang and her group—are requesting an audience,” an aide reported.
“The Doom Trio?” The supervisor frowned, having nearly forgotten about them. “What do they want?”
“They didn’t specify.”
After assigning them to Zone B, the supervisor had ignored them entirely.
At first, Ye Xiangxiang had clung to the aloof demeanor of a top-tier ability user, refusing to lower herself to seek out the base’s leaders.
She had been certain they would come begging for her group’s strength.
But days passed without so much as a meeting with a mid-level official.
Their patience had worn thin—especially after witnessing the capital base’s prosperity and security. Their resolve to stay had only hardened.
Now, they were done waiting.
When the supervisor finally appeared, Ye Xiangxiang cut straight to the point, her chin still lifted. “I’ll be frank. I want to meet your doctor.”
The supervisor’s gaze darkened. “Apologies, but our doctor is a key asset. Not just anyone can see him.”
(He conveniently forgot how he had pleaded with Ye Shaohua to visit the doctor days earlier.)
“I understand,” Ye Xiangxiang said, unsurprised. Even in her past life, the capital’s doctor had been heavily guarded.
In the apocalypse, a mind like his was priceless. The base’s current state was proof enough.
“Sir, you should know our team possesses a formula that restores ability users’ stamina,” Xu Qi interjected smugly, producing a small blue vial. “I’m sure your base is in dire need of it. We’re willing to provide samples for your doctor to study. Trust me—once he learns of this, he’ll be begging to meet us.”
