Special Agent’s Rebirth: The Almighty Goddess of Quick Transmigration - Chapter 268
Weiwei had no idea what Qi Feng and Su Ran were scheming, but she obediently pulled out her phone.
Wei Qi and Sui Yun’s subordinates stared in shock as Weiwei—someone they considered a mere errand-runner—produced an ordinary-looking phone.
The real kicker? When Sui Yun dialed the capital’s emergency line, it actually connected.
After relaying the warning about the incoming zombie horde, Sui Yun handed the phone back to Weiwei.
A crowd had gathered, all too aware of how precious satellite phones were. Seeing an ordinary team member casually owning one—one that seemed even more advanced than Wei Qi’s prized possession—left them speechless.
The lively chatter came to an abrupt halt.
“Y-you… how do you have that?!” The first to break the silence was the same woman who had previously lectured Weiwei on the rarity of functional phones.
Weiwei blinked. “We all have one. Is that weird?”
Is that weird?!
Of course it was!
The capital’s top scientists had poured endless resources into developing those limited-edition communication devices. People would trade mountains of supplies for one—yet this ragtag team treated them like party favors!
At that moment, every onlooker, whether civilian or ability-user, fantasized about punching Su Ran’s group in the face.
Never had anyone been so infuriatingly nonchalant.
Su Ran grinned. “Miss Ye made these for us to play Landlords when we got bored.”
A tech-savvy bystander paled, turning to Ye Shaohua. “M-Miss Ye… did you hack one of our nation’s satellites?”
“Of course not,” Ye Shaohua said solemnly. “I would never do such a thing.”
A collective sigh of relief swept through the crowd. Thank goodness she’s not that ridiculous.
Then she added, “I’d never hack my own country’s satellites.”
“She hacked M Country’s,” the baby-faced team member helpfully clarified.
THUD.
The questioner collapsed onto the ground.
That’s even more insane!!!
Silence. Absolute, dumbfounded silence.
Even Sui Yun shot Ye Shaohua an incredulous look.
As for Wei Qi, who had been flaunting her satellite phone like a trophy? The realization that Ye Shaohua’s team treated them as toys made her wish the earth would swallow her whole.
Just then, Su Mu—previously left for dead in the team’s vehicle—emerged.
Everyone remembered Su Mu’s case. His arm had been mauled by a zombie, his skin already graying with infection. Wei Qi had ordered him abandoned, believing him beyond saving.
Yet here he stood, two days later, looking perfectly healthy.
“You’re awake?” Su Ran asked, as if this were completely normal.
The crowd, however, gaped at Ye Shaohua in horror.
The apocalypse was called the apocalypse precisely because the zombie virus had no cure. Not even the capital’s brightest minds had cracked it.
Yet Su Mu, whom they’d all seen rotting away, now moved among them, alive and well.
Su Mu bowed deeply to Sui Yun. “Boss, I’m sorry, but I can’t keep fighting with you. From now on, I’m following Miss Ye.”
Though he’d been unconscious, he knew Wei Qi had tried to discard him. The military’s chain of command had long since collapsed in the apocalypse.
When the zombie bit him, Su Mu had accepted death—even as an ability-user, surviving a Level-1 zombie’s bite was unheard of.
Yet here he was, breathing, blinking, standing under sunlight again.
“You’re choosing her?” Wei Qi couldn’t believe it. “My team isn’t good enough?”
Su Mu didn’t budge.
*”We’ve located a Level-2 zombie,”* Wei Qi pressed. “You could’ve ranked up soon. It’s not too late to change your mind.”
This time, Su Mu didn’t even acknowledge her. Understanding her decision didn’t erase the betrayal.
Wei Qi scoffed. *”Fine. Throw your future away. You’ll never reach Level-2 now!”*
She stormed off under the team’s mocking gazes.
“Bro,” Su Mu whispered to Su Ran, “what exactly do I do for Miss Ye?”
Having missed Ye Shaohua’s earlier display, he still assumed she was just an ordinary person.
Su Ran tossed him a phone without looking up. “Weiwei scavenged this yesterday. Miss Ye modified it—team contacts are preloaded. Use it for now. If you don’t like the model, just grab a prettier one later. She’ll reprogram it.”
Su Mu absentmindedly pocketed what he didn’t realize was a satellite phone, then begged Su Ran to introduce him to Ye Shaohua.
“Miss Ye,” he said nervously, presenting a Level-1 zombie core. “I… I got this for you.”
For a Level-1 ability-user to single-handedly kill a zombie and extract its core was no small feat—even Wei Qi’s elite squad had only a handful.
Ye Shaohua accepted it. “You’re Wood-type?”
Su Mu beamed. “Yes, Miss Ye!”
“Perfect.” She rummaged through her pockets and dumped a pile of glowing cores into his hands. *”Five Level-2 Wood cores, one Level-3. Should get you to Level-3.”*
Their team lacked Wood-types, but they’d still collected spare cores from encounters.
As Su Mu stood there, shell-shocked, Ye Shaohua mused, “Now, who wants to test my new mental-recovery potion?”
“ME!” The team nearly trampled each other in the rush.
Qi Feng won through sheer aggression, shooting the others a triumphant grin.
Meanwhile, Su Mu remained frozen in the bus aisle, staring at his loot.
“Bro… am I hallucinating?”
Level-2 cores were rare. Level-3? Mythical. Wei Qi had needed months to secure one Level-2 core for her promotion.
And yet here he was, handed enough to skyrocket past her.
“Hallucinating?” Su Ran smirked. Purple-black lightning crackled around his fist. *”As you can see, I’ve been Level-3 for a while.”*
*”Ugh, still no Water-type Level-3,”* the buzzcut teen grumbled. “But hey, that squad we passed mentioned one in Fuqing Town. Captain, wanna go hunting?”
Su Ran considered it. *”Sure. No need to bother Miss Ye. Qi Feng and I can handle it. Let’s get the last few teammates to Level-3.”*
Su Mu listened as if hearing a fairy tale.
Weiwei nudged him. “Bathroom’s over there. Shower first—I’ll bring fresh clothes.”
“Shower?!” If the cores hadn’t already short-circuited his brain, this did. Water was precious in the apocalypse. People hoarded sips like gold.
“Yeah,” Weiwei said. *”Hurry up, though. Our Water-type throws a fit if we don’t use all the water he condenses. Thinks we’re mocking him for ‘only’ being Level-2.”*
Su Mu: “What the actual—”
After the most luxurious shower of his undead life, Su Mu gulped down a “stabilizer potion” from Weiwei and—like something out of a dream—ascended to Level-2.
As the convoy rolled on, Ye Shaohua tinkered with her potion lab in the bus.
Su Mu then watched, dumbstruck, as his brother and the team brutalized the rumored Level-3 Water zombie.
The previously temperamental Water ability-user, now Level-3, became disturbingly cheerful—insisting everyone take two showers a day.
“Su Mu, Boss needs you to accelerate a crop,” someone called later.
As one of the rare Wood-types, plant growth was his specialty. He hurried to Sui Yun’s lead vehicle, where Wei Qi’s team was mid-discussion.
“—that Water zombie’s gone. Must’ve been killed by some elite squad,” a member said.
Su Mu bit his tongue.
Oh, if only you knew it was the ‘elites’ who nag us about shampooing twice.
Wei Qi’s expression soured upon seeing him. “You left at the worst time,” one of her lackeys sneered. *”That Level-2 Wood core? Would’ve been yours. But since you quit, it went to me. I’m the team’s third Level-2 now.”*
Wei Qi smirked. *”Since you were so eager to leave, I assume you’ve found a better way to level up? Tell me, Master Su, have you reached Level-2 yet?”*
