Skills with no cooldown? I become the Undead Scourge! - Chapter 3
The Novice Trial Grounds were accessible to players under Level 10.
The entire area was a massive floating platform, divided into layers—inner, middle, and outer rings.
Lu Ran appeared at the center, inside a 10-meter safe zone.
Beyond this zone, each layer’s monsters increased by one level, all the way up to Level 10.
One important note: once you left the safe zone and entered combat, you couldn’t retreat back.
Lu Ran scanned his surroundings.
Outside the safe zone, Level 1 Pigsy Pigs roamed lazily.
All monsters here were aggressive—once you entered their attack range, they’d charge.
Though the Pigsy Pigs only had a 3-meter aggro radius, there were way too many of them.
“No wonder newbies avoid this place. This is way too dangerous!” Lu Ran muttered.
If you accidentally pulled multiple pigs, you’d be stuck in combat with no way back—and with only one starting skill, you’d be dead meat.
Lu Ran took a deep breath and stepped out of the safe zone.
He raised his Gnarled Staff and cast:
Summon Undead!
Whoosh!
Two streams of black smoke erupted from the staff, instantly materializing into two skeletal warriors—clad in tattered armor and wielding rusted cleavers.
Lu Ran kept casting.
Just as he expected—no cooldown!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
More black smoke surged out, and in seconds, forty skeletons stood before him—a dense, undead horde.
His MP bottomed out, but it was already slowly regenerating.
“Forty should be enough. Let’s go!”
With a thought, the skeletons surged forward, charging at the nearest Pigsy Pigs.
To be safe, Lu Ran assigned five skeletons per pig—focus-firing them down.
Clang! Clang!
-5
-5
-5
…
Pitiful damage numbers floated up, but even with the pigs’ decent HP, five skeletons whaling on one was overkill.
Within seconds—
Thud!
The first pig collapsed.
[Successfully killed Pigsy Pig! +10 EXP]
[Successfully killed Pigsy Pig! +10 EXP]
[Successfully killed Pigsy Pig! +10 EXP]
…
Notifications flooded in, and Lu Ran grinned.
He kept five skeletons as bodyguards while the rest rampaged.
Casually strolling like he was on a leisurely walk, Lu Ran replenished his forces whenever his MP recovered enough for two more skeletons.
The whole process was effortless.
Just ten minutes later—
[Level Up! You are now Level 1!]
“Yes!”
Lu Ran checked his stats—five free attribute points and full MP recovery.
Without hesitation, he dumped everything into Intelligence—boosting spell power and max MP.
“MP is everything!”
Now, his MP cap jumped to 250.
After summoning another wave of skeletons, Lu Ran pushed deeper—targeting Level 2 Direwolves next.
It was a snowball effect:
-
More skeletons → Faster kills → Fewer losses → More EXP → More summons.
Unstoppable.
With layers of undead shielding him, Lu Ran felt zero danger.
…..
Two Hours Later
[Level Up! You are now Level 5!]
“Finally!”
Lu Ran ignored his stats, immediately investing his new points into Intelligence before checking his skills panel.
At Level 5, he unlocked:
New Skill: Corpse Explosion
-
Cooldown: None
-
Cost: None
-
Effect: Detonate a controlled skeleton, dealing 300% spell damage in a 2-meter AoE.
Since it relied on existing summons, there was no cooldown or MP cost—just the need for skeletons.
With his current 40 spell power, each explosion dealt 120 damage—AoE!
Lu Ran eyed his undead horde.
“These aren’t skeletons… they’re walking bombs!”
He was now farming Level 5 Rifthoof Bulls—tanky, hard-hitting, but high EXP.
His skeletons’ DPS had slowed, so he decided to test Corpse Explosion.
With a thought, a dozen skeletons rushed into a bull pack, positioning strategically.
BOOM!
Simultaneous detonations.
Eight bulls evaporated in the blasts.
[Successfully killed Rifthoof Bull! +50 EXP]
[Successfully killed Rifthoof Bull! +50 EXP]
…
400 EXP in one go.
“Holy crap, that’s broken!” Lu Ran blurted.
The only limit was MP regeneration—if he blew up all his skeletons at once, he couldn’t replenish fast enough.
“Still, this is insane. If I gear up for more MP, I could chain explosions nonstop!”
Then he remembered—his new Golden Trait!
[Trait: Damage Redirect]
-
Effect: 100% of damage taken is transferred to summons.
Lu Ran’s brain short-circuited.
“Wait… WHAT?!”
He’d been keeping bodyguard skeletons around as a safety net—since death was permanent.
But now?
As long as he had summons, he was invincible.
Paired with no-cooldown summoning, he was practically immortal.
“This is… disgustingly OP.”
Grinning, he ordered his skeletons to rush the nearest pigs—then triggered a mass explosion for one last EXP burst before exiting.
…..
Exit
Back in the Dungeon Hall, Lu Ran’s stomach growled—it was already noon.
“Time for food.”
His leveling speed had been absurd, and he was more than satisfied.
Unseen in the crowd, the black-clad assassin from earlier stiffened.
Using Inspect, he gaped at Lu Ran’s level—then hastily messaged Qin Wuyao:
“Miss… Lu Ran just left the Trial Grounds. He’s… Level 5!”
