- Chapter 33 - Dr. Qin, Are You Good at Andrology?
What exactly was in that ice block before, Qin Jiang couldn’t say for sure, and he had no way of guessing.
After all, it’s just like opening a mystery box – only the person involved knows what surprise they might find.
Although Guo Long knew Qin Jiang’s words made sense, he still couldn’t bring himself to believe what had happened.
Guo Long said in a deep voice, “But that can’t be right, Dr. Qin. If it wasn’t divine water, how did I survive for six months without eating or drinking?”
“Shouldn’t I have superpowers or something?”
Qin Jiang looked at Guo Long with a completely serious expression. “Are you absolutely sure you haven’t eaten anything?”
Guo Long, getting agitated, insisted firmly, “Absolutely not!”
“Open your mouth and let me smell your breath.”
Guo Long did as Qin Jiang instructed.
Qin Jiang immediately reached a conclusion using his master-level diagnosis through smell.
“You ate shredded pork with green peppers over rice yesterday at noon, egg-fried rice last night, and beef noodles this morning.”
Guo Long was stunned. The live stream audience was equally stunned.
“Holy cow, he can smell that? No way, right?”
“If someone eats something with a strong smell, I can usually tell too, but I could never pinpoint it as precisely as Dr. Qin, down to the time.”
“He must be judging based on the stage of digestion, right? Different digestion times would produce different odors.”
“So, this guy is lying? But judging by his expression, he looks genuinely confused too.”
Indeed.
Right after Qin Jiang listed what he had eaten over the past couple of days, Guo Long became extremely agitated.
“Nonsense! I never ate any of those things!”
“I swear on my character, if I’m lying, may I be struck by lightning!”
Seeing Guo Long’s earnest and solemn demeanor, even Liu Yan felt he probably wasn’t lying.
But Qin Jiang remained perfectly calm and pointed at Guo Long’s backpack.
“You should have two roujiamo sandwiches left in your backpack. If you don’t believe me, open it and check.”
Guo Long’s temper flared up now.
“Fine, I’ll open it and show you. I am definitely not the kind of person who lies and deceives others!”
Guo Long opened his backpack and tipped it upside down with a shake.
Sure enough, a roujiamo wrapped in a food bag fell out.
Guo Long froze.
He looked as if he’d seen a ghost, his hand trembling as he picked up the roujiamo.
“This… this isn’t mine!”
“Who put this in my backpack? They’re trying to ruin me!”
Guo Long was on the verge of tears. He rushed up to Qin Jiang, explaining excitedly, “Dr. Qin, you have to believe me, I really didn’t buy this!”
Qin Jiang signaled for Guo Long to calm down.
“Whether you bought it or not, why don’t you check the transaction history on your phone? That should clear it up.”
Guo Long thought that made sense and hurriedly opened his phone to check.
When he saw the screen, his face turned pale.
There it was on his payment history – the exact transaction for the roujiamo. But he had no memory of it at all!
Could it be that someone used his phone to buy the roujiamo first, then slipped it into his backpack?
That’s just ridiculous!
Who would have nothing better to do than something like that?
Seeing that Guo Long’s brain seemed on the verge of crashing, Qin Jiang finally explained, “Actually, you weren’t lying. In your memory, you really haven’t eaten anything these past six months.”
“But the fact is, you’ve had three meals a day for the last six months, never missing a single one, and you’ve had quite a good appetite.”
“It’s just that you developed amnesia. So you forget that you’ve eaten. Even if you happened to see your phone bill, you’d quickly forget about it too.”
Amnesia?
And selective amnesia at that?
“But wait, Dr. Qin, if it’s like you say, why do I remember now?”
Qin Jiang pointed to the blue ice block in the stainless-steel basin. “That’s because I already told you this is airplane toilet water, not divine water.”
“You believed me, so you stopped deceiving yourself. This selective amnesia naturally cleared up.”
Hearing Qin Jiang’s explanation, everyone understood.
So, the root cause of all this was Guo Long’s deep-seated inferiority complex.
He used to be an ambitious young man, dreaming of going to the city to work, quickly earning a lot of money, buying a house in the city, getting married, having children, and reaching the peak of life.
But reality was harsh.
The city was full of highly educated talents, and everyone was fiercely competitive.
The good jobs never came Guo Long’s way. He could only find manual labor.
After struggling in the city for several years without making much money, Guo Long returned to his village.
The women in the village were all gossips, talking behind his back, saying he was a failure, that he amounted to nothing.
Under this long-term pressure, Guo Long’s mental state began to suffer, and he became intensely insecure.
This led to the situation where, when the blue ice landed in his field, Guo Long convinced himself he was the ‘chosen one,’ destined to awaken superpowers and turn his life around.
Under this powerful self-deception, Guo Long selectively forgot that he was eating every day.
After all, he lived alone.
For the past six months, whether he ate or not was something only he would know.
Understanding everything now, Guo Long sat there dazed, as if he’d lost his soul.
Qin Jiang said to him, “Young man, how old are you now?”
Guo Long smiled self-deprecatingly. “Thirty years old. Still a worthless failure.”
“How enviable,” Qin Jiang suddenly said.
Guo Long was taken aback.
“Dr. Qin, what did you say?”
Qin Jiang looked at Guo Long with a serious expression.
“I said, I really envy you.”
Guo Long thought he must have misheard.
“Someone like me? What is there to envy?”
“Why wouldn’t there be?” Qin Jiang said. “In this world, many people don’t live to see thirty. Do you think they envy you?”
“Just now, I also checked your pulse. Your body is basically fine. You could easily live another twenty or thirty years.”
“Do you think those thirty-year-olds with terminal illnesses envy you?”
“So, don’t always think you’re a failure, or that you’re unlucky.”
“There are plenty of people worse off than you.”
“Just living a good, healthy life makes you a success.”
Qin Jiang’s words moved many in the live stream audience to tears and made Liu Yan’s eyes redden.
Liu Yan had previously followed and filmed many doctors working on the front lines.
She had witnessed too many partings in life and death, and too many patients who lost their lives young.
Qin Jiang’s words truly came from the heart.
His words instantly ignited a spark of hope in Guo Long!
“I understand, Dr. Qin! Don’t worry, from now on, I will live my life positively and optimistically!”
Qin Jiang nodded, feeling very gratified.
Just then, Guo Long suddenly lowered his voice and asked, “Dr. Qin, are you good at andrology?”
