Little Junior Sister, We Can’t Handle This Grind Anymore - Chapter 85
Feng Qingran watched Yinglong depart.
Though Senior Yinglong’s words sounded like a warning, they were actually a reminder: to conquer the Barren Lands, the most crucial element wasn’t strength, but unwavering determination.
Feng Qingran looked down at her feet.
The blades beneath her were sharp and gleamed coldly. Flames from the crevices burned brighter and stronger, soon to leap out and engulf her.
This truly lives up to its name—a mountain of knives, a sea of fire. And yet, this is only the first trial of the Barren Lands.
Her almond-shaped eyes sparkled with resolve, a firm determination settling between her brows.
Very well, I’ll conquer this mountain of knives and sea of fire first. Let Senior see my determination!
After Yinglong left, a group of beasts gathered in the sky, eager to watch the spectacle.
Taotie, crouched on Taowu’s back, snorted, “Serves that wretched girl right! Let’s see her get roasted into jerky!”
Hundun watched as Feng Qingran stepped forward, her feet treading upon the sharp blades, and couldn’t help but recall her calling him a “moron.”
“Does she really think she can walk out of this mountain of knives and sea of fire on her own two feet?” he sneered disdainfully.
“Hmph! Only a fool like her would even attempt it!” Qiongqi, clearly still holding a grudge, chimed in. Qiongqi delighted in wicked people but couldn’t stand being insulted itself.
“That girl is no fool. She’s walking like this to study the mountain of knives and sea of fire, to figure out how to counter it…” Taowu offered a different perspective. Recalling how Feng Qingran had navigated the swamp, he was convinced she was planning something big.
Nearby, a black Wyvern watching the scene asked, “Old Huang, I thought you said we weren’t following anymore? Why are we here again?”
The yellow Wyvern smacked the black one on the head. “Don’t be stupid! Anyone daring enough to trespass on Yinglong’s territory—if we miss this, we’ll be the laughingstock of the Tenfold Domain!”
“Old Huang, Yinglong is the progenitor of the Phoenix and Qilin. Why would it show mercy to some little girl?”
Old Huang rolled his eyes. “How should I know? Go ask Yinglong yourself!”
The black Wyvern fell silent. If I had the nerve to talk to Yinglong, would I still be putting up with your bullying?
…
Ant Queen, perched atop the Shadow Serpent’s head, hopped anxiously. “That little girl can’t die in the Barren Lands! I haven’t settled my score with her yet!”
The Shadow Serpent threatened, “Stop hopping on my head! One more jump, and I’ll throw you off!”
Ant Queen froze. Fire was its natural weakness.
Suddenly, it seemed to notice something and exclaimed excitedly, “Look, look! Her feet are bleeding! She must be on the verge of collapse!”
The Shadow Serpent disagreed. “Not so fast. She hasn’t even used most of her tricks. Speaking of which, Ant Queen, I have an idea…”
“You idiot, what half-baked scheme are you concocting now?” Ant Queen retorted scornfully.
A sinister glint flashed in the Shadow Serpent’s eyes. “Your ant colony lacks a queen, right? And you can’t defeat any of the other female beasts in the Tenfold Domain. Why not just snatch this little girl and take her back as your queen…”
“Holy crap!” Ant Queen was so startled it nearly slid off the Shadow Serpent’s back, but the serpent caught it in time.
After recovering, Ant Queen said meaningfully, “Shadow Serpent, I’ve always wondered how someone as weak as you has managed to survive so long. Now I understand!”
The Shadow Serpent eagerly asked, “Why?”
Ant Queen kicked it with one of its legs. “Because you are utterly—shameless, despicable, cunning, and ruthless! You’ll stop at nothing to get what you want…”
Instead of taking offense, the Shadow Serpent beamed. “Thank you for the compliment! Actually, my suggestion is that you could—”
Before it could finish, Ant Queen roared, “Get lost! You old scoundrel, get as far away from me as possible!”
“We are beasts! We are beasts! Beasts are meant to be ruthless and vicious, not despicable and vile! Even if we are bad, we must have a bottom line in being bad!” The Ant King was almost driven mad with anger.
“Hah! Since when do villains have principles? When you devoured the entire Basilisk clan, did you leave any survivors?” the Shadow Serpent questioned skeptically.
Ant Queen, seething with rage, yelled, “That’s completely different! I devoured their entire clan following the law of the jungle—the strong prey on the weak!”
“But you! Shadow Serpent, how dare you suggest such a thing? She’s just a fourteen-year-old girl! If I really kidnapped her…” Ant Queen paused mid-sentence and shot a glare at Taotie nearby. “What are you staring at? I have standards! We’ll settle the score later for you crushing my eggs!”
Taotie snorted derisively. “You have the nerve to say that! Letting a little girl make a fool out of you…”
“You’re no better! Weren’t you the one who claimed to have eaten every two-legged sheep under the heavens?” Ant Queen shot back, wearing a look that said, Go on, let’s make this mutual.
As their argument heated up, exclamations arose from the distance.
The Nine-Headed Bird let out a piercing shriek. “Holy crap! She… she seems to be getting hurt on purpose! Look, her blood is forming some kind of pattern!”
The Great Phoenix added, “I’ve heard that among cultivators, there are those called formation masters. They use mysterious patterns to achieve unexpected results…”
“Hmph! A fourteen-year-old girl? There’s no way she knows formations. She’s just a blind cat stumbling upon a dead mouse. Look at her—she’s not even thinking about where she steps. How could she possibly set up a formation?” Yingzhao disagreed. Having once battled a formation master, he remembered how every move was calculated. If that opponent hadn’t been so weak, Yingzhao might have fallen for it!
The Zhu Yan chimed in, flattering, “Yes, yes! Big Brother is right! I’ve heard cultivators are all trash. They only form their foundation in their teens. Even the talented ones only form their Golden Core by a hundred years old—that’s considered genius. And forming their Nascent Soul within a thousand years? That’s hailed as defying the heavens…”
