I Swapped Bodies With a Female Celebrity - Chapter 51
Arriving at the convention center, the cybersecurity competition was already in full swing.
The first batch of hackers from across the country were launching relentless attacks on a security software called E30, developed by a local cybersecurity company in Yunjing City.
On the large screens in the convention center, the fierce battle between offense and defense in cyberspace played out in real-time, drawing gasps and exclamations from the crowd.
This hacker war in the digital realm was a battle without smoke or fire—yet every assault was razor-sharp. The moment they found an opening, they would tear through the firewall completely.
But all of this was way over Qin Lang’s head.
He was, after all, an academic slacker. Watching the dizzying back-and-forth on the screen, he felt his brain short-circuiting.
What puzzled him even more was—why had Professor Zhao (a.k.a. “Ghostface”) summoned him here?
Just then, a collective sigh rose from the audience.
Looking up, he saw that the E30 antivirus software had fallen under the hackers’ assault.
From start to finish, it had lasted less than twenty minutes.
“The hackers in this year’s competition are seriously skilled!”
“Yeah, but on the other hand… E30 was just too weak, wasn’t it?”
“These cybersecurity companies nowadays only care about making money. Who actually puts effort into developing real software?”
“Exactly! They’ve got their priorities all backwards!”
Qin Lang was a little surprised—he hadn’t expected E30 to crumble so quickly.
Soon, the hackers moved on to the second antivirus software in the competition.
At that moment, Qin Lang received a WeChat message from Ghostface.
He didn’t have time to read it properly but followed the location Ghostface had sent and made his way over.
“Professor Zhao!”
Pushing the door open, he found that aside from Professor Zhao, there were a few other people in the room.
“Qin Lang, come sit. Watch today’s hacking competition closely—see if it gives you any inspiration!”
Professor Zhao waved him over.
Qin Lang was flattered. As a perennial slacker, he was usually the kind of student teachers ignored. So why the sudden attention today?
But deep down, he had a hunch—this change had to be related to Qin Yunxuan.
“After all, Qin Yunxuan was a tech fanatic. Who knows what she did during those five days she took over my body?”
Qin Lang wasn’t stupid. He quickly put the pieces together.
Since he had no idea what Qin Yunxuan had done, he could only force a dry laugh. “Thank you, Professor!”
With that, he obediently took a seat beside Professor Zhao.
Meanwhile, in the same room, Xiao Ruolin’s eyes flickered with surprise.
“It’s him? He’s Professor Zhao’s star student?”
But what puzzled her was that even though Qin Lang’s gaze had landed on her, there wasn’t the slightest flicker of recognition in his eyes.
“Feeling bold in front of your professor now? Pretending you don’t know me?”
She smirked inwardly but didn’t dwell on it.
On the other side, Ghostface was speaking to Qin Lang in a low voice.
“Your antivirus software will be showcased last, so no need to rush. By the way, how’s your preparation for the Innovation Cup going?”
Qin Lang nearly bit his tongue in shock.
What?! My antivirus software? The Innovation Cup? What the hell is all this?!
“Oh, I’m still working on it…” He could only mumble vaguely.
Ghostface nodded. “The submission deadline for the Innovation Cup is in a month. Once you’re back, draft a timeline and a project report first, then we’ll discuss it together.”
Yikes.
Qin Lang sucked in a sharp breath. Now he understood—he (or rather, Qin Yunxuan) had somehow recruited Ghostface as his advisor for the Innovation Cup!
He’d heard his roommates talk about the Innovation Cup before. Just participating would earn them extra academic credits—something their underachieving dorm 09511 desperately needed.
They’d joked about signing up with some half-baked project just to scrape by.
But he never imagined… what was once just empty talk had actually been acted upon by Qin Yunxuan!
And she’d even roped in the notoriously strict Ghostface!
“Oh… okay.”
Cornered, Qin Lang had no choice but to play along.
As for how he’d bluff his way through later… he had no clue.
“Good. Don’t forget—our goal is the first prize!” Ghostface said with rare amusement.
First prize?!
Qin Lang sighed inwardly, resentment bubbling up toward Qin Yunxuan.
“I helped you write songs, boosted your popularity, and exposed your company’s villains. After all I’ve done for you in the parallel world… you had to dig me into this massive pit? I’m just a slacker—how am I supposed to climb out?!”
A wave of frustration washed over him.
“If only… we could switch bodies again.”
The thought surfaced, and Qin Lang fell into deep contemplation.
It wasn’t impossible. Though he had no idea how their body swap had happened, if it occurred once, who’s to say it couldn’t happen again?
“The first swap lasted five days. Maybe after another five days, we’ll switch back?”
Lost in thought about the possibility, Qin Lang zoned out completely…
…..
Meanwhile, the hacking competition raged on. The hackers’ skills were formidable—one by one, every antivirus software in the contest fell like dominos.
Not just the products from Yunjing’s cybersecurity firms, but even some well-known antivirus programs were crushed without mercy.
“Pathetic. Their defense systems haven’t improved at all over the years.”
A man in the hacker alliance shook his head. “If we weren’t law-abiding citizens, we could make a fortune just by creating viruses!”
“Hey, Darkie, watch your mouth! We’re a hacker alliance, not a bunch of thugs!”
A woman beside him chuckled as her fingers flew across the keyboard. “But you’re right about one thing—these cybersecurity companies invest shockingly little in actual tech.”
“If someone ever develops a super-virus, the consequences would be unthinkable.”
“Alright, enough chatter. Let’s crack the last antivirus software, then go feast. The payout for this competition is nothing to scoff at!”
A man in his thirties grinned.
“Don’t worry, Boss Qiang. The last one’s supposedly made by a college student—probably just for show. I’ll take it down in no time… Oh, and I want roast duck!”
“I’m craving oysters!”
“BBQ for me, especially grilled lamb kidneys!”
“What, gotta recharge for ‘marital duties’ tonight?”
Laughter filled the hacker alliance’s workspace.
Little did they know… the challenge awaiting them was far beyond their expectations.
