Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 156
“Dad, we’re always protecting everyone else, but who’s going to protect me?”
“Of course, it’s your dad who will protect you, my little Kiana.”
“Okay, it’s a promise then…”
Kiana held out her pinky finger, but the Siegfried before her vanished. Instead, she found herself in a clean, tidy room, looking at her own body lying in bed, realizing the dream was over.
“Well, look who’s finally awake.”
An unfamiliar voice rang out. Only then did Kiana notice a massive cross in front of her, with a girl who looked about 12 or 13 years old, with white hair and blue eyes just like her, sitting on top of it.
“Hey kid, where is this?”
Theresa, who had initially been relieved to see Kiana awake, felt her mood instantly darken upon hearing the address.
“Kid…!”
Theresa wiggled her fingers. Several chains extended from the Oath of Judah, instantly binding Kiana.
“You little brat, who are you calling a kid? I’m Theresa Apocalypse, head of the Anti-Entropy Far East Branch. You didn’t even use a fake name when you entered the Far East. Were you hoping your old man would notice you?”
Kiana’s eyes widened in shock.
“You know my dad?”
Theresa rested her chin on her hand, looking at her meaningfully.
“Sure do. We go way back. I even know where he is right now~”
“Where?!”
Hearing this, Kiana became intensely excited, prompting Theresa to instinctively cover her ears.
“You… really are just like your father, aren’t you? So impatient. He’s in a very dangerous place right now. The way you are now, going to find him would be no different from suicide.”
“These minor injuries are nothing! Take me to him!”
Faced with Kiana’s relentless insistence, Theresa just smiled.
“I’m not talking about your injuries. I’m talking about your current abilities. They’re far too weak. You and others teamed up against a mere Honkai beast, and you were completely overwhelmed. Even if I told you where Siegfried is, you’d probably end up in the next world before you ever laid eyes on him.”
“Also, your friend Raiden Mei has something very dangerous inside her. If she unleashes that tremendous energy again next time… Do you think you have the power to stop her?”
Kiana’s excited heart suddenly sank. She stopped struggling, even though she was still bound by the chains.
“So… I have a proposal.”
“And… that… is… join St. Freya Academy, receive Anti-Entropy’s training, and become a Valkyrie.”
“St. Freya Academy? A Valkyrie?”
“Correct. It’s the only institution in the world dedicated to training warriors to fight the Honkai—Valkyries. If you’re willing to join, I will train you to become a warrior capable of standing on her own.”
“Of course, this all depends on your own will. If you really don’t want to come, I won’t force you. However… your two friends, Raiden Mei and Bronya, have already agreed.”
Kiana’s eyes darted around for a moment, then regained their sparkle.
“Easy for you to say,” she retorted. “But how can I trust the words of someone who tied me up the first time we met? If you want me to agree, first let me see Mei.”
Theresa pouted.
“First time meeting… Hearing that is really quite sad. I clearly held you when you were little.”
“But your request is reasonable. Rest well. Once you’ve recovered sufficiently, I’ll let you see her.”
After saying this, Theresa retracted the chains, hoisted Judah onto her shoulder, and left without looking back. She didn’t hear Kiana’s quiet mutter:
“What nonsense… saying she held me when I was little? She looks even younger than me.”
Returning to her office, Theresa found a new email on her computer.
“I’m coming over right now. 10, 9…”
Theresa scratched her head, puzzled.
When the countdown reached zero, a pair of seemingly well-maintained hands emerged from the computer screen, gripping the edges of the monitor.
“Gulp.”
Theresa swallowed hard and instinctively took a step back.
“No, no, I’m the head of the Far East Branch, the Principal of St. Freya Academy, and an Anti-Entropy S-Rank Valkyrie. I can’t let anyone know I…”
Enoxia’s head popped out of the computer screen. Theresa took another step back and landed sitting on the floor.
“A ghost… Wait, you’re… the Herrscher of Corruption?!”
Enoxia climbed completely out of the computer and waved at the terrified Theresa.
“Hi, long time no see, Theresa! I’m sure I notified you just a moment ago. Though, I’m really happy you still remember me after 14 years~?”
Theresa shakily got to her feet and took a deep breath.
“Who knew you’d show up in such a terrifying way… What do you want?”
Enoxia sat on Theresa’s desk, crossing her legs.
“Nothing much. I just feel like being a Valkyrie at St. Freya Academy for a while, so I’m giving you a heads-up.”
“Huh? What?”
Theresa blinked, making sure she hadn’t misheard.
“What’s the matter? You know perfectly well that both Kiana and Raiden Mei are Herrschers. So, those two Herrschers can become Valkyries, but I can’t?”
Theresa understood. She wasn’t here to ask for permission. When it came to her, Anti-Entropy was utterly powerless.
“Don’t worry, I won’t make things difficult for you. All the relevant paperwork is perfectly in order. If a fake is so good that no one but its creator can tell it’s fake, then its value is the same as the real thing.”
“Oh, and I’ve already checked with Otto. He has no objections either. Plus, with Mei’s help, I can even get that Judgment-class Honkai beast to join us too. Using the Honkai to fight the Honkai—isn’t that what you’ve always believed in?”
“Besides, aside from you, no one else at St. Freya participated in the Second Honkai War 14 years ago. Even if someone recognizes me, I can just use my Authority to alter their perception.”
Theresa let out a resigned sigh.
“When are you coming?”
Enoxia made a playful face.
“At the latest, we’ll officially meet at St. Freya next month, Principal~”
