Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 152
After being sent flying by the residual shockwave of Mei Raiden’s lightning orb, Bronya briefly lost consciousness. When she came to, she found the Hyperion already high in the sky, and both Kiana and Raiden Mei Raiden had vanished.
Since Bronya was, after all, affiliated with Anti-Entropy, her first instinct upon seeing Schicksal’s battleship was to flee. As she ran, she gathered intel, trying to pick up any trail that could lead her to Mei Raiden and Kiana.
“Mei-senpai, you idiot Kiana… please be safe…”
“Project Bunny 19C, find the optimal route. Prioritize areas with minimal human presence as much as possible.”
Quickly, Project Bunny calculated the best path based on Bronya’s requirements: turn left 205 meters ahead, go straight for 512 meters, then turn right and continue straight for 1988 meters. There was a large area there with only a single Honkai Beast.
Pressed for time and burdened with her mission, Bronya didn’t stop to wonder why, in a city like Nagazora teeming with zombies and Honkai Beasts, the density in that area would be so low.
Fighting her way through, Bronya finally reached the designated area safely.
Good news: Project Bunny’s calculations were perfectly accurate. There was indeed only one Honkai Beast in the area before her.
Bad news: The reason the entire area contained only one Honkai Beast was because this single creature’s massive body covered the whole zone.
Before Bronya stood a gigantic dragon-like Honkai Beast. Its scales were a deep crimson, and its claws were black. The moment Bronya intruded into this space, it noticed her presence.
“Project Bunny 19C, activate defen—”
“ROAR…!”
A deafening roar erupted. Just the force of its cry made Bronya feel as if her feet were nailed to the ground, every step requiring immense effort.
The colossal beast, previously lying on the ground, gave a single beat of its wings. A violent gust of wind whipped up, sending Bronya flying backward until she slammed into a building and came to a stop.
She fell from the wall, avoiding injury thanks to Project Bunny’s protective shield. But the monster charged towards her at incredible speed. Faced with its razor-sharp claws now terrifyingly close, a completely unprepared Bronya executed a slide, slipping right underneath it.
However, dodging one attack didn’t mean escape. The beast’s tail swung around, striking Bronya and sending her flying once more. This time, she landed directly in front of its gaping maw.
By the time Bronya struggled to her feet, it had already opened its mouth wide. A crackling lightning orb had gathered within, charged to its maximum and ready to be fired. Bronya tried to run, but found her legs leaden.
BANG!
A shell, fired from an unknown direction, struck the giant beast. While it didn’t seem to cause any substantial damage, the impact skewed its aim. The outer edge of the lightning orb grazed past Bronya’s body, utterly obliterating the building behind her into dust.
In the blink of an eye, a girl with wine-red hair and deep gray eyes, wearing armor equipped with a flight unit on its back, appeared at Bronya’s side. Seizing the brief window after the monster’s attack, she grabbed Bronya’s hand and soared into the sky at full speed.
Enraged by its prey’s escape, the beast let out another thunderous roar just as the pair had flown a few hundred meters. Its breath attack locked onto them from behind, but before it could fire, another lightning orb struck its head. The breath shot vertically into the clouds.
Only now did Bronya snap back to reality. She watched as the girl who had saved her waved to another girl ahead with blue hair. This blue-haired girl had beautiful, semi-transparent purple wings on her back. Cupping her hands as if shaping a spinning sphere, she formed a lightning orb and hurled it, sending the gigantic beast flying backward.
“Bella Onee-sama is as amazing as ever.”
Bella stared intently at her opponent, her expression extremely serious.
“Ivan, take her to a safe place. Don’t get caught up in my fight.”
“Understood.”
Replying curtly, Ivan scooped Bronya up in a princess carry and swiftly flew into the distance, not touching down until they had left Nagazora city limits.
“Bronya, are you okay?” Ivan asked.
Bronya shook her head. “Bronya is fine. Thank you, Onee-sama.”
Hearing Bronya call her ‘Onee-sama,’ even though she knew it wasn’t meant in the way she might initially think, Ivan felt an indescribable warmth and satisfaction. It was only when she noticed Bronya staring at her with a puzzled look that she realized her expression might have been a bit inappropriate.
Ahem. “My name is Ivan,” she said, composing herself. “I know your name, and I know you’re from Anti-Entropy. Your mission here in Nagazora is to retrieve the Herrscher of Thunder for Cocolia. As for how I know all this, and why I came to save you… that’s a secret for now. You’ll understand in a few years.”
“Obviously, your mission failed. Not only is the Herrscher of Thunder gone, but you also woke a Judgement-Class Honkai Beast.”
Bronya scratched her head. “Judgement-Class Honkai Beast? No wonder it was so powerful. Bronya remembers during the Second Eruption, a Judgement-Class Honkai Beast also appeared alongside the birth of the Herrscher of the Void. Is that Onee-sama fighting it alone… going to be okay?”
Crackle—BOOM!
Back in Nagazora, countless terrifying bolts of lightning intertwined and writhed, painting a scene akin to the apocalypse.
“Ah, the Bella Onee-sama who’s fighting that Judgement-Class Honkai Beast right now… well, she is the Honkai Beast that was born during the Second Eruption…”
“Eh, wait. That would mean she’s actually younger than me… Oh, never mind! She’s more mature than me anyway, and I’ve been calling her ‘Onee-sama’ for over ten years now. I’m used to it; not going to change it.”
Hearing Ivan’s answer and subsequent muttering, Bronya’s eyes widened in shock, her mind reeling.
From the archives in Anti-Entropy, she had learned that fourteen years ago, during the Second Eruption, the Herrscher of Corruption and the Herrscher of the Void had appeared, playing crucial roles in the battle that defeated the Herrscher of Ice.
Back then, appearing alongside the Herrscher of the Void was a Judgement-Class Honkai Beast who took the form of a human girl.
Both Herrschers had vanished without a trace after the war, and it was said their relationship with the Schicksal Overseer wasn’t particularly good. Bronya never imagined that this girl before her, who looked only about ten years older than herself, had actually been living with them for over a decade.
“Alright, I need to go back and help Bella Onee-sama,” Ivan said, breaking Bronya’s train of thought. “There are just a few small fries left around here; with your skills, they shouldn’t be a problem. Whatever you do, don’t come back until the fight is over.”
After giving these instructions, Ivan activated her flight system once more and sped at full throttle back towards Nagazora.
