Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 143
It was impossible to tell how much time had passed before Kevin finally arrived in South America from Siberia.
“Heavenly Fire, draw!”
“Aaaahhh—!”
Blazing flames pierced through Chi’s body, snapping it out of its hallucinatory state.
Su reverted from his artificial collapse form and fell from the sky, on the verge of losing consciousness.
After all, the creature could be considered a psychic-type monster. Within the domain of Karmic Transmigration, Su and Chi were essentially engaged in a battle of mental wavelengths. Although Su succeeded in disrupting Chi’s focus, his own mental state deteriorated rapidly. Holding out until Kevin’s arrival was his absolute limit.
Therefore, Kevin’s Heavenly Fire attack was not only meant to severely wound the monster but also to rescue Su.
Chi, realizing it was outmatched with Kevin’s arrival, immediately chose to flee.
Unlike Wang, Chi’s special ability seemed incredibly niche and came with significant drawbacks.
In simple terms, Chi’s ability allowed it to enter a special dimension and pull others inside. While that might sound impressive, once inside this space, it could not affect the real world. Moreover, a debuff within this dimension indiscriminately affected everyone present, causing continuous health drain for both Chi and anyone else trapped inside. Fortunately, as a follower of Abundance, Chi could regenerate health, mitigating the negative effects to some degree.
Aside from granting Chi far greater spatial awareness than other Huili Clan members, this ability’s primary function was to allow it to hide in this special dimension during emergencies, essentially turning it into an unkillable survivor.
Clearly, Kevin had left a deep psychological scar on Chi. It hid away for over 3,000 years, only returning to reality when the Destruction’s erosion of the Abundance Path reached a point where its health regeneration could no longer keep up with the continuous drain.
Shortly after returning to reality and feasting in the rainforest, Fu Hua tracked it down.
Already aware of Chi’s illusion-creating abilities, Fu Hua came prepared. Moreover, due to her Feather of Divine Punishment, Chi’s illusions proved repeatedly ineffective.
Frustrated, Chi dragged Fu Hua into its special dimension, planning to wear her down.
Whether launching psychic attacks against Su or engaging in a battle of attrition with Fu Hua, Chi somehow always managed to choose the strategy with the highest probability of failure. In a way, it was quite the talent.
As for the outcome? Every time Chi thought it was on the verge of victory:
“Vermillion Flames Engulf, Life Entrusted, Death Returned.”
“Heart Forged Like Glass, Burned Without Regret.”
“If One Does Not Understand Death, How Can One Understand Life?”
Clearly, Chi had no idea that “Fu Push-ups” were just as legendary as “Yang Sit-ups.” Watching Fu Hua resurrect on the spot every time her health hit zero, Chi’s sanity nearly shattered. It couldn’t comprehend—who was the real follower of Abundance here?
Losing a war of attrition as a follower of Abundance to a non-Pathstrider? Chi absolutely refused to accept this outcome. Even sensing something was wrong, its pride drove it to stubbornly fight Fu Hua to the death.
As it turned out, excessive vanity offers little benefit—acknowledging one’s limitations is key to growth. After over a month of relentless battle, just before Fu Hua exhausted her resurrections, Chi itself reached its limit. Seizing the opportunity, Fu Hua launched a swift and seamless combo:
“Channel Qi to Dust, Lead with the Body, a Relentless Torrent.”
“Strike Through the Clouds, Flawless Mastery, Catching the Falling Rabbit.”
“Unity in Diversity, Four Limbs as the Wind, Impenetrable Defense.”
Chi was first sent flying into the air, then slammed back to the ground. Seeing her attacks finally effective, Fu Hua didn’t hesitate—shifting from fists to legs, she unleashed a second combo:
“Tempered Body, Fists at Their Peak, Heart and Form Unyielding.”
“Storm Sweeps Leaves, Striking with the Moment, Ten Strikes, Ten Decisive Blows.”
“A Thousand Refinements Shatter Mountains, Exhausting All Strength, Nothing Left Unbroken.”
By this point, Chi was so weakened that after being hit by Fu Hua’s invisible kicks, the surrounding space began to collapse, returning both to the real world.
“Inch Blast·Skybreaker!”
The last thing Chi saw was Fu Hua’s fist growing larger before its eyes. Its memories ended there. Fu Hua didn’t even need to use the Divine Key—Taixu Sword—to secure the kill. Chi’s greatest contribution was successfully keeping Fu Hua tied down in South America during the Second Impact.
As for the final Huili Clan member to arrive on Earth, Liang… it was indeed still alive 3,000 years ago, but barely. The psychological trauma from the light arrow’s impact was so severe that, although its Abundance-blessed body could regenerate, its mind was reduced to that of a blank slate. It spent 3,000 years lying dormant in Antarctica, doing absolutely nothing.
Then, in 1999, due to its unique constitution, the Core of the Herrscher of Lightning formed within Liang’s body.
However, Liang neither became a mindless entity of destruction and slaughter like Chi nor retained self-awareness while harboring destructive desires like Wang.
The moment the Herrscher core formed, electric currents surged from within Liang’s body, and then… it exploded like a beached whale.
Liang died before it could even begin to act.
The Huili Clan, born with innate abilities and dual-Pathstriders, harbored one specific weakness: an intense fear of any form of lightning. For the vast majority of Huili, if a voltage exceeding 100V entered their bodies, they would instantly lose consciousness. Exceeding 220V, like Liang, would cause them to explode on the spot, leaving nothing behind.
Huili clearly remembered that this trait did not exist before becoming dual-Pathstriders. It speculated that the power of Equilibrium, to prevent the Huili from becoming too powerful, had imposed this flaw upon them.
To counter this weakness, the Huili evolved, developing an additional layer of skin between their outermost layer and their internal organs.
This was akin to wearing an insulating layer between armor and undergarments. If this “layer” was damaged, they would use their Abundance powers to repair it at full strength.
Even with this countermeasure, other factions found a simple way to deal with the Huili Clan: breach their defense, and before the wound could heal, insert any device with voltage equivalent to or greater than a household plug into the injury. This would instantly eliminate them.
Of course, Chi and Wang clearly fell outside the “vast majority” category—otherwise, Enoxia would have simply summoned Bella. As it turned out, Chi’s remains were preserved intact, providing a rare and valuable experimental sample.
“Higokumaru, dinner’s ready.”
For a biological brain, memories are data stored within. Although the Herrscher of Corruption’s ability to manipulate consciousness was inferior to the Herrscher of Sentience, erasing memories was still a simple task.
“Hehe, Big Sis is always the best to me.”
Higokumaru emerged from Enoxia’s body once again, slurping up Chi’s memories like jelly.
Burp! — a satisfied sound echoed as Higokumaru, full of data, patted its stomach contentedly before returning to Enoxia’s body.
As the Herrscher’s consciousness completely vanished, its movements gradually ceased. With a loud crash, it collapsed like a felled tree. Enoxia emerged from its body, retrieving the Core of the Herrscher of Death for the second time.
She glanced at the corpse on the ground, then at the intricate gem in her hand, a look of relaxed delight on her face:
“Now, I can really drive a hard bargain with World Snake.”
