As a Reincarnated NPC, I Want to Live a Peaceful Life - Chapter 27
Watching the wound rapidly heal and become as good as new, I breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the cold sweat from my face.
[KRYY’s Blood] is part of my constitution. Originally, I didn’t want to use it freely to heal others, but the situation just now was truly critical. Even if I had stalled with [Green · Compassion], it would only have delayed Delle Mi Lopate’s eventual death.
My left hand trembled slightly from the pain in my palm, and the bleeding still hadn’t stopped. I don’t know if it’s due to my constitution or a special game setting, but injuries I inflict on myself aren’t affected by the [Recovery Heal] auto-recovery effect. They simply remain as wounds… Or perhaps the system picked up on my intention that “I need to use my blood to heal,” and, for the sake of balance, temporarily disabled the auto-heal.
Well, that’s just speculation. I’ll just bandage it up later – I remember there were some leftover strips of cloth in Alec’s storage room that should work as makeshift bandages.
Clenching my left fist, hoping to stem the blood flow, I went to the door and pushed it open, only to find Pat waiting on the other side. Before I could say anything, it brushed past me and went straight into the room.
Never mind, let it spend some time with its master. I have more important things to do.
…..
Alright, I’ve got everything – some damp but relatively clean cloth strips, and a very clean handkerchief.
Sitting in the sales area by the back door, I had fetched the items for bandaging myself from the storage room. It’s a real shame that using [Green · Compassion] requires both hands to be effective; otherwise, I wouldn’t need to resort to such crude methods.
I used the clean handkerchief to wipe away the liquid blood, then wrapped the washed cloth strip around the injured area. I wound it around a few times, tied it off, and pressed down firmly on the bleeding wound.
The process was actually quite painful. If I were a player, using the highly effective or completely painless pain absorption system, I probably wouldn’t have reacted much during the bandaging. But for us NPCs, it’s different. For us, this is practically the real world; isn’t feeling pain to be expected?
Perfect!
Looking at the neatly wrapped bandage, I felt a small sense of pride. This was my first time bandaging my own wound, and indeed, the first-time experience comes with a sense of accomplishment… I just hope there won’t be a second time, otherwise, I can’t imagine what state I’d be in then.
With the bandaging done, I sat on the chair, rocking back and forth like a rocking chair, reminiscing about the time when Airf and I first arrived at Alec’s Alchemy Shop.
Back then, we entered through here. The door was chained shut with a white chain, just like now. Then we met Alec, followed by Airf’s stomach growling, and then my stomach growling too… Hahaha, how embarrassing to have our stomachs growl in front of a stranger…
I wonder how Airf and Alec are doing now. Probably staying safely in [Felttro]… Hahaha, not even a day has passed yet; what am I worrying about? And what about Hui Hui? She’s a player, so she probably logs in and out frequently. Or maybe she’s on the game forums promoting, “I’ve got this unique quest, come check it out!”… She probably wouldn’t do that, right? Otherwise, we’d be in big trouble.
Next, I need to leave the city. Before that, I should ask for directions to [Felttro]. Oh, and I should also send a letter to Mrs. Cleroll’s house, telling her I might not be coming back. Also, after I take Airf and Alec back to the Elf Forest, where should I go? Where can I go?
Ahh, it seems I still have to rely on others… Well, I’ll think about it when the time comes.
“Everyday~, I imagine a future that I can be with you.”
Once I relaxed, I couldn’t help but hum that English song etched deep in my mind.
“In my hand, there is a pen that will write a poem of me and you.”
It’s as if I was born knowing how to sing it. The funny thing is, from my rebirth until now, and even in my previous life, I’ve never heard this song before, so I don’t even know the lyrics clearly.
I’m not sure how much time passed. After I had hummed the song several times over, I only realized that it was very dark around me, with only a few magic lamps lit in the inner room – it seems Miss Delle has woken up.
These magic lamps can only be lit by specific mana, so Pat, being an elemental spirit, couldn’t… Ugh…
The moment I stood up, I felt soreness in my back and weakness in my legs. My shoulders felt heavy as if filled with lead, and my body seemed utterly drained.
Ahaha, this is the price for maintaining intense mental focus for a long time and then suddenly relaxing. My whole body feels numb and tingling, with no strength – I really shouldn’t have slumped into the chair to rest earlier.
Well, in the end, I’m the one who suffers the losses, and there’s no one to complain to… Ah, for the first time ever, I’m feeling genuine fatigue. Ouch – why does it feel like various parts of my body hurt?
And my head feels a bit dizzy, moving my limbs feels inconvenient, like something is pulling, and why does my torso feel burning hot?
Breathing… is so difficult. Every time I inhale or exhale, there’s a stabbing pain in my chest.
Even so, I forced myself to walk to the lit room. After knocking on the door to signal my presence, I pushed it open.
Walking from the darkness into the room, I was surprised that the bright light didn’t feel harsh to my eyes. If only I had been a medical student or had a PhD in medicine in my previous life, maybe I could figure out what’s wrong with me right now.
[Frostburn Syndrome]
Seems like a complicated injury. It flared up because I relaxed and became weak all of a sudden… You really can’t let your guard down at any moment. Damn it!
‘Blah blah? Blah blah…’ It was as if there were flies buzzing around my ears. Unclear voices drilled into my ears, reverberating through my eardrums, making them itch terribly.
I knew it was the sound of someone talking, but I couldn’t make out the words. Even my vision blurred in that instant –
Someone grabbed me by the shoulders and started shaking me. My head was already dizzy, and this made it even foggier.
That figure was tall, about two heads taller than me, with a neutral build, but quite strong. It should be Lyle? No, how could he be here?… Is it Pat? Probably not, how could he have that kind of figure? Besides, he wouldn’t be this friendly towards me.
Maybe because of [Vigorous] or something, I just can’t pass out. So, being shaken around like this probably won’t change anything, but coupled with the fatigue, a feeling of nausea is rising.
Thinking about it, I haven’t eaten anything, so I’ll probably just dry heave.
“Blah blah….”
Ahh, if only I could just faint and sleep it off, I wouldn’t have to “enjoy” this miserable process.
Frostbite and burns here and there on my body, making my movements stiff. Indeed, after being hit by that mixed ice and fire elemental attack, it’s hard to avoid complications, let alone prevent aftereffects.
By the way, please stop staring at me, whoever or whatever is holding me.
——–
“Hey, little girl! Are you okay? Say something! Why is your face so red? Why are you so hot?”
“Haah… Huh… Haah… Huh…”
“Her eyes are dazed, her mind seems wandering, her body is weak and limp, and her face is so red… Delle, what does it mean when a girl is like this?”
“Um, Pat, maybe you should let her go first. I think the girl is about to collapse.”
“Ah, oh oh… Hey, she’s swaying unsteadily; she doesn’t look too good – Huh? Carry her to the bed to rest?”
…
“Speaking of which, she’s really amazing. She managed to heal Delle’s serious wound, despite your special constitution… and without leaving a single scar.”
“We really need to thank this girl. Pat, did you promise her that if she could heal me, you would stop pursuing her and leave?”
“Because, Delle, you were almost— Delle? What are you laughing about! I was so worried about you!”
“Because! Hahaha, Pat, your expression… it’s really rare to see. Thank you for worrying about me so much.”
Thump thump thump!
“It sounds like someone’s knocking, and they seem to be in a hurry. Pat?”
“Don’t worry, leave it to me. Delle, you check on how that little girl is doing. We’ll leave in a little while.”
“Alright, I’ll leave it to you then.”
…..
Standing in front of the alchemy shop that was still inhabited just yesterday, Lyle felt somewhat heavy-hearted.
He had received news this morning – Alec and the others had left. Alec and the others went to [Felttro]. Alec’s magically gifted adopted daughter had actually stayed behind and was mistakenly identified as a wanted criminal.
She couldn’t be found anywhere in the city now, so he could only try his luck here –
“Your Highness, even if that little girl is inside, the guards nearby won’t just let her go and allow her to leave the city just because you say so.”
“Ah, I understand… So, we’ll have to think of another way later….”
Knocking on the wooden door half-covered in moss, Lyle waited.
“If it’s that little one, she might not open the door so easily.”
“Your Highness is right. This subordinate will go to the vicinity and draw the guards away.”
“Mm, I’ll leave it to you.”
…
“Oh? Isn’t this Prince Lyle?”
“Who are you?”
“Oh, my apologies for not being in my original form.”
‘I’m Pat. Your Highness might not know me, but I am the contracted spirit of Delle Mi Lopate.’
“…Alright, I’m coming in.”
‘Mmm…… No, no, no!’
Unfortunately, there was no way Pat could stop Lyle; he could only delay him with mere mortal strength without harming him.
“Mr. Alec, as agreed, your daughter…”
