After Swapping Lives, the Metaphysics Side Character Became the Wealthy Family's Beloved - Chapter 7
Wang Qinglin went to discuss an investment with Li Shanchuan, who had no intention of mentioning it to Li Qiao afterward.
In his view, Li Qiao must have suffered some grievances in the countryside, which led to her being a little “off” mentally.
On the car ride home, Li Shanchuan noticed several health supplements in the vehicle and casually asked, “Lao Sun, are you visiting relatives?”
“No, Mr. Li. These are for Miss Qiao—a small token of gratitude from me and my wife.”
The moment Li Qiao was mentioned, Lao Sun couldn’t stop talking.
If not for her warning, he would have been either dead or severely injured yesterday!
When Lao Sun was driving them back, Li Qiao had stopped him from changing lanes.
Li Shanchuan hadn’t paid attention to the aftermath, but it turned out that the Qixian Bridge really had an accident.
“Mr. Li, your daughter is truly remarkable,” Lao Sun praised repeatedly.
Li Shanchuan was stunned.
Could Qiaoqiao really know metaphysics?
Back at the Li residence, Lao Sun unloaded the gifts and solemnly thanked Li Qiao—his lifesaver.
Grateful and kind-hearted, Lao Sun earned a smile from Li Qiao as she studied his face. “From now on, smooth sailing.”
“Thank you, Miss.”
“On your way home today, do something you’ve been wanting to do. A small windfall will come your way.”
Lao Sun nodded excitedly before leaving.
After he was gone, Li Shanchuan rubbed his nose awkwardly. Liu Yusu was busy arranging her handbags, while Li Qiao folded paper talismans into triangular charms.
“Qiaoqiao, do you really need so many?”
“These are for sale. If you ever need this many, it’d mean you’ve encountered…” Li Qiao paused mid-sentence and continued folding, leaving Li Shanchuan scratching his head in suspense.
“Encountered what?”
“I doubt you’d want to know.” Her tone was light, but the glint in her eyes made Li Shanchuan shut his mouth.
For some reason, his back felt chilly.
Suddenly, Li Qiao frowned and stated firmly, “You met with Wang Qinglin.”
How… could she know that?
“Li Shanchuan, you didn’t listen to Qiaoqiao?” Liu Yusu abandoned her handbags immediately. Right now, Li Qiao’s words were law—he wasn’t supposed to interact with Wang Qinglin. Why couldn’t he follow simple instructions?
“Maybe Qiaoqiao misjudged Qinglin…” Over the years, his relationship with Wang Qinglin had always been smooth, without a single conflict.
It was hard for him to doubt Wang Qinglin based solely on Li Qiao’s words.
“You don’t believe me.”
“No… It’s just that I think we need evidence.”
Li Qiao understood his hesitation. But reality would hit him like a hurricane—soon enough.
She didn’t elaborate further, only reminding Li Shanchuan to keep the talisman on him at all times.
Liu Yusu quietly pulled Li Qiao aside and whispered, “Qiaoqiao, your father won’t be in danger, right?”
“He won’t.” As long as he kept the talisman with him.
Relieved, Liu Yusu returned to chatting with her group of friends.
Li Qiao’s talismans worked wonders, but her friends were skeptical. She’d have to demonstrate their power in person.
After dinner, while Li Qiao was drawing another talisman, her hand suddenly stilled.
“Li Shaojing is in trouble.”
She rushed out of the house. Next door, He Jingnian saw her leave and immediately guessed the reason.
…
Nocturnal Emperor Club
At the entrance:
“Jin-ge… We agreed—once this deal goes through, I get 30%.”
“Easy. No problem.”
Li Shaojing agreed readily.
As they got into the sports car, Su Yan ran his fingers over the steering wheel and sighed. “Jin-ge, we came all this way—why not drink? How can we discuss business without alcohol? You just had to stick to water.”
Even now, Su Yan’s mouth felt bland.
“My little sister insisted: no drinking if you’re driving, no driving if you’ve been drinking.” At the mention of Li Qiao, Li Shaojing’s smile brightened.
Everyone in their circle knew the Li family had finally found their long-lost daughter.
Su Yan teased, “Never knew Jin-ge was such a doting brother.”
“My sister’s worth it.”
Oh? Now he was proud of it? Su Yan grew even more curious about this Li family sister.
Li Shaojing’s expression turned serious. “Don’t get any ideas about her.”
“Hey, Jin-ge, relax. Your sister’s my sister—of course I wouldn’t think anything weird.”
“You— Watch out! There’s someone ahead!”
Li Shaojing shouted in alarm. Su Yan slammed the brakes and swerved sharply. The screech of tires cut through the night.
Furious, Su Yan jumped out of the car.
“Hey! Watch where you’re walking! Didn’t you see the car coming?”
A woman in a red dress stood motionless in the middle of the road. Su Yan’s temper flared, but Li Shaojing frowned and stepped forward. “As long as she’s unharmed.”
Late at night, with no one else around…
A woman appearing out of nowhere sent a chill down Li Shaojing’s spine.
Su Yan muttered a few curses and turned to leave with Li Shaojing.
“Leaving so soon?”
The woman’s eerie voice echoed behind them. Su Yan spun around, ready to yell—until he saw her face.
“G-G-Ghost! AHHH!”
The woman in red revealed a horrifying visage—her face deathly pale, eyes entirely white, tongue dragging on the ground. Her hair exploded outward, floating mid-air like living tendrils.
Li Shaojing paled and yanked Su Yan into a sprint.
But when he glanced back, the woman’s hair lashed out, coiling around Su Yan’s neck and tightening. Su Yan gagged, on the verge of suffocation.
“Su Yan! Hold on—don’t let go!” Li Shaojing gripped his arm desperately. Then he remembered the talisman in his pocket.
He slapped it onto the hair.
The strands recoiled instantly, releasing Su Yan, who collapsed, coughing violently.
The ghost let out a piercing shriek of pain.
“Run—”
Before Li Shaojing could finish, the red-dressed ghost lunged. Her long tongue licked Su Yan’s face.
He nearly passed out from terror and disgust.
“The talisman! Jin-ge, hurry—”
“…It’s gone.”
Su Yan wanted to cry. Just as the tongue lashed toward them again, a golden light erupted. The ghost was blasted backward, crashing to the ground with a howl.
“Qiaoqiao!”
Li Shaojing called out in relief.
Li Qiao scanned him quickly, ensuring he was unharmed before relaxing.
Then she turned a frosty gaze to the ghost.
“Since you’ve chosen to harm humans, I can’t let you stay.”
She flicked out a talisman. The ghost panicked, pleading:
“No… Su-lang, save me! Su-lang… How can you abandon me? Su-lang, you promised to love me forever!”
Su Yan, still shaking, exploded: “The hell I did! I don’t even know you!”
“Su-lang, I’m Qingqing! Look—you gave me this bracelet. Last night, we were together under the moon. Why didn’t you come back for me? Su-lang… You’re so cruel.”
“Qingqing?!”
Su Yan trembled violently, hiding behind Li Qiao.
“You’re a ghost?! Master, save me—get rid of her!” He’d actually dated a ghost? Damn, that was disgusting.
“Su-lang, you heartless bastard! I’ll drag you to hell—we’ll be a ghostly couple!”
“Like hell we will! Master, exterminate her now!” Su Yan urged frantically, too terrified to even look at the ghost.
Enraged, the ghost’s aura darkened.
Li Qiao’s eyes turned icy. “You’re digging your own grave.”
She flung the talisman. With a bang, the ghost shrieked—then vanished without a trace. Only scraps of red fabric remained on the ground.
