Soon, Xu Ze’s thoughts returned to the system’s diagnosis of “early-stage peripheral lung cancer” with a 75% probability. That was practically a confirmation.
Looking at Professor Li’s serious expression as he earnestly explained the material to the class, Xu Ze felt a pang of sadness. Although he had only been attending Professor Li’s lectures for a few months, he had developed a deep respect for the elderly professor, who was rigorous in his teaching and genuinely wanted to impart knowledge to the younger generation.
Professor Li probably hadn’t discovered the issue yet. If he had, with early-stage peripheral lung cancer, he would already be hospitalized and undergoing surgery.
Xu Ze thought for a moment and decided he needed to find a way to alert Professor Li. If the professor could get an X-ray or a chest CT, the condition would be easily detected. With early detection and prompt surgery, the prognosis should be good.
“Xu Ze, answer this question,” Professor Li’s voice suddenly called out, snapping Xu Ze out of his thoughts.
Professor Li was quite familiar with the handsome young man who had been sitting in the front row with a silly grin on his face. After teaching this class a few times, he had noticed that Xu Ze reminded him of his younger self in some ways. Xu Ze was always attentive in class, so after calling on him a few times, Professor Li had grown familiar with his name.
But today, seeing Xu Ze so distracted, Professor Li couldn’t help but frown and decided to call on him to answer the question.
“Uh…” Xu Ze looked at the chest X-ray on the screen where Professor Li’s laser pointer was aimed and frowned slightly. “What was the question? I didn’t even hear it. How am I supposed to answer?”
Many of his classmates were now looking at Xu Ze, waiting to see how he would respond. Zhang Ziyang, sitting not far from Xu Ze, had already noticed that Xu Ze had been daydreaming. Seeing Xu Ze’s furrowed brow, Zhang Ziyang couldn’t help but smirk, thinking, “How dare you space out in Professor Li’s notoriously strict class? Let’s see you get out of this one, hehe…”
Xu Ze was growing anxious. His friend Luo Zi, sitting beside him, offered no hints, just staring blankly at the X-ray and then at Xu Ze, saying nothing.
Just as Xu Ze was about to panic, he suddenly heard Professor Li’s voice in his mind: “What diagnosis would you consider based on this chest X-ray? Who can answer?”
“Huh?” Xu Ze was stunned. He was certain Professor Li had been looking at him, waiting for an answer, and hadn’t spoken.
“Could the system be helping me again?” he wondered. But there was no time to dwell on it. Now that he knew the question, he quickly examined the X-ray again. The lung markings were thickened and disorganized, and there seemed to be some dotted shadows. It looked similar to the previous image of a lung infection, but there were subtle differences.
Xu Ze wasn’t entirely sure. Just as he was about to panic, the mechanical voice in his mind spoke again: “Upper and middle lung fields show millet-like shadows of varying sizes and densities, unevenly distributed. Diagnosis: miliary tuberculosis with an 85% probability.”
Hearing this, Xu Ze’s eyes lit up, and he quickly answered, “The upper and middle lung fields show millet-like shadows of varying sizes and densities. I believe it’s likely miliary tuberculosis!”
