A Provocation and a Threat
Jiang Fei moved quickly. With an agility stat of 2.4 and the mastery of Threefold Cloud Steps, he ran with the speed of a cheetah, like a man carried by the wind…
Unfortunately, no matter how fast he was, he was still over ten meters away from the two bikers. He couldn’t close the distance instantly—he wasn’t as fast as light, after all.
The man on the back of the motorcycle didn’t even flinch at Jiang Fei’s shout. He stood up on the footrests, holding a can of unknown liquid, and hurled its contents toward the sign of Jiang’s Medical Hall.
Even though Jiang Fei couldn’t stop him in time, the biker’s aim was embarrassingly poor. The liquid didn’t reach the sign, which was less than three meters high. Instead, it arced through the air and splattered on the ground in front of the hospital.
By now, Jiang Fei could see what the liquid was.
It wasn’t the feces he had feared. Perhaps these bikers had some sense of hygiene, as carrying feces around would have been too disgusting. Instead, the red liquid appeared to be blood—whether it was chicken, dog, or pig blood, he couldn’t tell.
The blood was still warm and hadn’t coagulated, suggesting it had been freshly obtained.
However, even if it was just blood, the negative impact on a newly opened hospital was no less severe than if it had been feces. The only saving grace was that the biker was so weak he couldn’t even throw the blood high enough to hit the sign. It had only splattered on the ground, making it easier to clean up.
If the blood had hit the sign, Jiang Fei would have had to replace it entirely. Such an incident was incredibly unlucky, especially on the day of the hospital’s grand opening.
Seeing this, Jiang Fei’s rage burned fiercely. He didn’t care who these bikers were or who had sent them. All he wanted was to drag them off their motorcycle and beat them until they couldn’t recognize themselves.
“Daring to bring bad luck to my doorstep? You’ve got a death wish! Today, I’ll make you lick up every drop of that blood!” Jiang Fei roared inwardly.
Just moments ago, he had been complaining about the lack of trouble, wishing for a chance to show off. But now that trouble had arrived, he found it far from satisfying—it only made him furious.
Whoosh!
Jiang Fei’s feet seemed to glide over the ground as he pushed Threefold Cloud Steps to its limit, his speed increasing even further. Meanwhile, the biker who had thrown the blood stood frozen, staring in disbelief as the liquid missed its mark and splattered on the ground. It was a humiliating failure, akin to a man’s most embarrassing moment.
Jiang Fei’s face was dark with anger, his eyes blazing. He was almost within reach of the motorcycle, ready to yank the two men off…
Vrooom!
The motorcycle, which had never fully stopped, roared to life and shot forward. The man on the back stumbled, nearly falling off, and quickly discarded the can to grab onto the driver’s shoulders for balance.
“Damn it!” Jiang Fei’s eyes widened in fury. He kept running, determined to catch up.
But even with Threefold Cloud Steps, his speed wasn’t enough to overtake a speeding motorcycle. That would defy the laws of physics…
After a few seconds, Jiang Fei realized the futility of the chase and came to a halt. His fists clenched tightly, veins bulging on the back of his hands. He turned back to look at the pool of blood in front of the hospital, its pungent smell filling the air. Some of it had even splashed onto the walls, a stark and horrifying sight.
“Who the hell did this?!” Jiang Fei wanted to curse loudly.
His eyes narrowed, the anger in them turning icy and menacing. His mind raced as he tried to figure out who could be behind this. In recent times, he hadn’t made many enemies—aside from the old men from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Alliance, Qin Zhengming and Yu Qingsong, there was only Gao Hengyuan, the son of the Second Hospital’s former director.
While Qin Zhengming and Yu Qingsong were stubborn and old-fashioned, Jiang Fei believed they still had some sense of dignity. People who cared about their reputation usually had some moral standards. Even if they were unhappy about his hospital’s opening, they wouldn’t stoop so low as to hire thugs to splash blood on his doorstep.
If it wasn’t them, then the most likely culprit was Gao Hengyuan, who had every reason to hate Jiang Fei.
Back at the clinic, Jiang Fei had humiliated Gao Hengyuan in public, causing him to lose control of his bladder and bowels. The man probably wished he could skin Jiang Fei alive. After failing to bring Jiang Fei down through Qin Zhengming, Gao Hengyuan clearly hadn’t given up.
This blood-splashing incident was likely his second attempt at revenge.
As Jiang Fei pondered this, the screech of tires echoed from the roadside. A car had come to a sudden stop.
Frowning, Jiang Fei turned to see a white BMW Z4 pulling up a few meters away. The car’s hood was closed, but the window rolled down to reveal the face of none other than Gao Hengyuan himself.
Gao Hengyuan smirked at Jiang Fei, his expression full of smug satisfaction. “How do you like my opening gift, idiot? A small-time doctor like you dares to mess with me? You’re finished! No matter how skilled you are, I’ll make sure your hospital never succeeds! This is just the beginning. You’d better watch your back!”
This time, Gao Hengyuan had learned his lesson. He didn’t dare step out of the car to taunt Jiang Fei. The last encounter had left him deeply traumatized, and he knew better than to risk another humiliation. Staying in the car was safer.
After delivering his threat, Gao Hengyuan didn’t give Jiang Fei a chance to retaliate. He revved the engine and sped off.
As he drove away, he stuck his left hand out the window, raising his middle finger in a blatant gesture of contempt…
Gao Hengyuan had tried using his police connections and even Qin Zhengming to take Jiang Fei down, but nothing had worked. However, he wasn’t out of tricks yet.
If legitimate methods failed, he was more than willing to resort to underhanded tactics. After all, Gao Hengyuan was no gentleman.
For example, hiring thugs to splash blood was something Jiang Fei couldn’t easily counter, even if he called the police.
As Gao Hengyuan drove off, he failed to notice a towering Hummer ahead of him. The massive vehicle suddenly changed lanes, moving to intercept his sleek, feminine BMW Z4…
